    As Dumb As Dishwater

In 2000 I was Bush the Younger’s most vocal supporter on my first message board. By the end of Bush’s first term I realize I had made a huge mistake.

In 2016 I had a lot of reservations about signing on with Trump; so I was late in jumping on his bandwagon. I am jumping off a lot faster than it took me to dump Bush.

As far as Trump’s bragging rights go they are limited to his tax reform. That sweetheart deal enriched his pals on Wall Street. Conservatives will have to wait and see how Trump’s reform pans out in the next few years.

Trump shares the blame with Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan for not repealing the Affordable Care Act. Obviously, Trump does not like sharing the glory. He now claims sole ownership of some serious stuff. Here are a few examples:

In the wake of the horrific Valentine’s Day school massacre in Florida, the Trump administration expressed its support Monday for legislation that would increase federal background checks for gun purchases.

President Trump is “supportive” of measures to ramp up the federal background system for guns, the White House said.

Gun background-check proposal gets legs with Trump support

NOTE: Media mouths, print journalists, and politicians are pontificating full bore, but I have yet to come across one motor-mouth mention the reason for the Second Amendment never mind defend it. Every one of them knows how to infringe upon a Right, but they all come up short when it comes to enforcement:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

Parenthetically, I wonder who put gun control talking points in the heads of teenagers? I suspect that some of the march organizers were puffing up their résumés in preparation for the day they apply for a government job:

We are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives,“ he said of the event titled ”March for Our Lives."

QUESTION: How did teenagers acquire more knowledge about the Second Amendment than the combined wisdom of these people?:

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty, teeth and keystone under independence. The church, the plow, the prairie wagon and citizens' firearms are indelibly related. From the hour the pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that, to ensure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. Every corner of this land knows firearms, and more than 99 and 99/100 percent of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil influence. They deserve a place of honor with all that's good. When firearms go, all goes. We need them every hour. George Washington's address to the second session of the First U.S. Congress

    XXXXX

The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it. Thomas Jefferson

    XXXXX

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson

    XXXXX

The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that ... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed. Thomas Jefferson

    XXXXX

What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. Thomas Jefferson to James Madison

    XXXXX

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. Thomas Jefferson's advice to his 15-year-old nephew

    XXXXX

I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them. George Mason, Co-author of the Second Amendment, during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution, 1788

    XXXXX

And we do each of us, for ourselves respectively, promise and engage to keep a good firelock in proper order, & to furnish ourselves as soon as possible with, & always keep by us, one pound of gunpowder, four pounds of lead, one dozen gunflints, & a pair of bullet moulds, with a cartouch box, or powder horn, and bag for balls. George Mason

    XXXXX

Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: first, a right to life, secondly to liberty, thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can. Samuel Adams

    XXXXX

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." Samuel Adams

    XXXXX

Arms in the hands of the citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny or private self-defense. John Adams

    XXXXX

They tell us that we are weak -- unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Three million people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Patrick Henry

    XXXXX

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined. The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun. Patrick Henry

    XXXXX

The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance of power is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside. Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them; the weak would become a prey to the strong. Thomas Paine

    XXXXX

It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government. Thomas Paine

    XXXXX

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops." Noah Webster

    XXXXX

The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them. Joseph Story

Next, Senator Romney sticking it to President Trump is the only good thing that can come from this endorsement:

President Trump endorsed Mitt Romney in the Senate race to replace retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Monday night, despite reportedly urging Hatch to run for reelection to block Romney out.

“He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch, and has my full support and endorsement!” Trump tweeted.

Finally, Trump is supposed to be as sharp as a tack. Amnesty for 2 million ILLEGAL ALIENS proves that he is as dumb as dishwater because he knows nothing about DEMOCRAT PARTY INCREMENTALISM IN ALL THINGS whenever they line up for bipartisan legislation:

NEW YORK -- Fearing betrayal on a signature campaign issue, President Trump's loyalists across the country are lashing out against his proposal to create a path to citizenship for nearly 2 million "Dreamer" immigrants.

I guess that I just don't get it. To me if you cut taxes (basically returning someone's own money) it just makes sense that those that pay more will get more back. What's more, since the poor in this country don't pay taxes even if they got 100% more than they paid in they would get.......Nothing.

I think of the tax cut in 2 ways. 1. It's basically something to stimulate the economy. 2. It's a tax cut lowering our taxes down to MORE THAN WE SHOULD BE PAYING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

As the students converge on the capital in Tallahassee, and next month in Washington, I hope someone explains to them the previous "assault weapon" ban that was part of the 1994 crime bill, how ineffective it proved to be, by all studies and accounts, and how the sunset provision killed it, and how Congress voted not to renew it. I hope they can all understand the part about every scientific study on impact showed that the law had little or no impact on gun crime. These kids were not around when the "assault weapons" were banned, and many were still in diapers when it expired.

I believe Romney would have made a much better President than Obama. Romney just didn't seem to have enough Tiger in him when he needed it. I may be wrong, but I think Romney is a done deal for Utah, no sense in Trump trashing him now. Better an R than a D, even a RINO R is usually better than a D.

Finally, if we need to give a longer term path to citizenship for 1.8M, in order to get everything else Trump has outlined, I don't like it, but I understand compromise. If we legalize 1.8M without taking away chain migration, the 1.8M will immediately file for their parents, 3.6M more, and I and many others will be pissed. Better find a different R candidate in 2020.

To Old Tex: There is no such thing as a tax cut so long as there is a tax on income.

You read this thread, but these few observations are worth repeating:

When American Socialists/Communists realized that equal distribution of the wealth does not work they created Circulation of the Wealth with the income tax. All of the harm “income inequality” did to this country was made possible by the tax on income, and they are not finished yet.

    XXXXX

Labor is converted to money. Taxes are paid with money. The wealthy pay their taxes with the labors of the many. Today’s wealthiest Americans, who supposedly pay most of the taxes, are no better than the king’s titled tax collectors in the days of European monarchies. Barons, counts, and no accounts collected the taxes from the serfs, took a cut off the top, and gave the rest to monarch (the federal government today). Briefly, today’s landed gentry made a bargain with the Communists —— enslave the private sector, let us keep our wealth and privileges and we will cooperate. The Democrat Party’s war against the wealthy is a sneaky way to confiscate more of the working class’ labors.

Tax dollars not only fund our parasite class, along with further enriching the already-wealthy parasite class, tax dollars are sent to foreign countries in the form of foreign aid and development money. Working Americans receive no benefit from the income tax at home or abroad. At least working Americans had the choice of working for themselves or for somebody else during boom and bust cycles; whereas, Circulation of the Wealth forces every private sector American to work for everyone except themselves.

    Circulation Of The Wealth

NOTE: This country became the greatest country the world had ever seen before 1913. The U.S. of A. began going downhill after 1913. So if Trump truly wanted to make this country great again he would devote his energies to repealing the XVI AMENDMENT instead of further enriching his pals on Wall Street with income tax dollars.

To dinosaur: I would like to identify those students who are being manipulated by their teachers. I would also identify those students who are nothing more than sign-carriers for the demonstration organizers much like the sign-carriers during the Vietnam War.

Every time liberals want more money for anything they trot out the children. When they testify before a congressional committee the answer to every topic is “The children.” Question: Is it raining outside? Answer: The children.

For once Democrats have good reason to use kids as a shield. Teachers’ unions are deathly afraid that school shooters might only shoot teachers. I shudder thinking about media coverage when a mental case is so far gone he skips the kids and shoots the teachers. God help us if shooters start mowing down professors in colleges and universities.

It is a pity that school shooters do not have better BS detectors.

Two adult men, occupying lofty perches as law professors, argued this week that the voting age in the U.S. should be lowered to 16 because some high school survivors of the Parkland, Florida, shooting who want gun control "are proving how important it is to include young people's voices in political debate."

That was the assertion of University of Kentucky law professor Joshua Douglas on CNN.com. He praised some student leaders at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who've been making the rounds on TV, shouting at President Trump, Republicans in Congress and the NRA "to demand change" — which Douglas defines obtusely as "meaningful gun control," whatever that means.

Because these children are apparently doing a better job at broadcasting his own ineffectual political views, Douglas asserts, "we should include them more directly in our democratic process" by enfranchising them now.

Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe similarly tweeted, "Teens between 14 and 18 have far better BS detectors, on average, than 'adults' 18 and older." On what basis does distinguished Professor Tribe make such a claim? On a foundation of pure, steaming BS.

Agent 006 & 7/8ths reports that CNN management chartered the Titanic for a world cruise in order to reward the staff for a job well-done:

CNN reached out directly to The Daily Caller to deny the claim made by a Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor in regard to Wednesday night’s gun safety town hall in Florida.

Colton Haab, a JROTC enlistee who has previously spoken with media outlets about how he helped his peers seek shelter during the shooting, did not take part in Wednesday’s event on the grounds that CNN attempted to plant “scripted” questions for him to ask.

    XXXXX

A CNN spokesman reached out to TheDC and explained that while Haab did in fact submit remarks to be delivered, they were turned away once it became clear he planned on delivering an extensive speech and not just ask a singular question.

    XXXXX

CNN did not immediately respond to TheDC’s request for additional comment on why Alhadeff was allowed to deliver her speech yet Haab was not.
