Friday morning...just past 10:30....

Waiting for a son to arrive so we can get into that exhaust chest built. Concreting used to be easy on me...but...I need new knees, so.....

I have two CUMMINS, 4 cyl diesel gensets...66kva, each. I needed to get specialty mufflers for them..."critical residential" but...that's not good enough. It is good enough for me...but Council wants it quieter to give me the permit to get a camping bizz, going (hot tubs). What an "exhaust chest", is....is a concrete (cinder blocks on a pad) sarcophagus, of sorts. 1.2m long, .8m wide, 1.2m high. Inside it...there's one baffle wall with a brick missing on the bottom so exhaust coming in at the top of one end...gets into the second chamber, through the bottom hole...then, out the top of the other end. The whole inside of the thing needs bitumen over it or the sulphur in the diesel exhaust "eats" the mortar and cinder blocks. Once the exhaust exits the muffler...and, dumps into and through this thing...it's incredibly quiet.

I always thought there'd be a business in building this for people that need genset power. Maybe...just selling the plans???

So...just gonna lie around until my kid gets here...watching Tucker at the moment.

Just coming up on 1:30, Saturday. I'm absolutely dead tired, too.

Had two slices of my homemade pizza...K'head got one. The Heineken's are mine! We'll do the same for dinner with the rest of it.

Kids aren't around. My youngest was here, yesterday...helping me do the concreting and cinder block work on the exhaust chest. Wow...I told him it's my LAST real "physical grunt work"...I don't have it in me any more. He was visibly upset I said that. I didn't expect that. He sees I'm well and truly over the hill and is pretty bent about it. Being the best dad in the world...has some emotional blow-back, I can see. My three are great boys.....the best. "Being everything" to them.......wow...what can I say?

I need this whole day to recuperate. Bad knees...to be replaced after the New Year...will be a blessing. Carrying sacks of mortar and cinder blocks uphill, on slippery, uneven clay...really took a toll. Glad I pushed a session off until tomorrow.

Found a top guitar...killer, actually...just 37 with some of the best fingers I've seen in a long time. His mentor...Eddie Van Halen. It shows. He's glad to postpone and come by on Sunday to go over the tunes. He was recommended by folks in N'ville...in the Aussie Clique over there...which is surprisingly large, thanks to Keith Urban. Fifty miles from here...my good fortune! He's learned the progressions...which I play...and tomorrow he's got to see the waypoints in my chordings...where he steps in and out, doing burns and nuance, in place. Once he knows that...he can "connect the dots" and dwell on these waypoints as he gets left to himself to put his pedal to the metal. Most shredders...left to themselves...just parrot scales that really go nowhere. He's a pro.....

Good to have time to myself...tired, or not.

The vocalist's pretty much over COVID and has his voice, back...I hope!

The dish has FOX on at the moment. I'm just lying around for a good rest. Time for that second beer!
