Apparently the incident on the South Korea flight happened a couple of minutes before landing so they would have been low enough that the pressure differential wouldn't be as significant, allowing the door to be opened. It still wouldn't be possible mid-flight.Originally Posted by Frankenvoter

The headline is BULLSHIT. It wasn't mid-flight. It was at a 700 foot altitude approx 3 minutes before landing.

It was a "news" blurb on my local "news", I saw the video then searched the web and found the link, that's how it was reported on air and as a headline so I appreciate the investigative journalism on your part, I'm too lazy for that and since our "news" has descended to somewhere between Babylon Bee and National Enquierer I figure it all comes with a disclaimer hidden somewhere in their fast scroll of credits at the end of the program.

The change in air pressure has nothing to do with the altitude... which is low. It has to do with the high velocity air flow past the open door, which will reduce the air pressure inside the place.
