Yea, they always leave out the "legal" part of immigrants when talking about our ancestors. They seem to forget Ellis Island.

When my grandfather came through Ellis Island, the sick and dangerous were turned back. There were requirements for entry.

My Polish grandparents came through Ellis Island but I do not know the year.

thanks to all. I grew being told I was an American and was proud of it. those who say we are a nation of immigrants have no other excuse for letting so many illegals come in. Immigrants shuold be allowed in to do something for the nation, not the nation do things for them. Also, we need to bring any immigrant into "our" culture etc, not vice versa.
