The NY Post has put out an article that says that former CIA acting director "helped Biden" during Biden's Presidential campaign by organizing 50 colleagues to sign a letter in October 2020 falsely claiming that damning emails from Hunter Biden's laptop (published by The NY Post) were "Russian disinformation".

For those not aware, emails found on Biden's son's portable laptop computer (which he absentmindedly left behind at a motel, allegedly after a cocaine binge) contained some communications that didn't make Biden look good. Probably nothing that is solid enough evidence to be able prosecute anyone in court, but it makes it look like corruption was going on (presumably connected to the Ukrainian Burisma scandal, when Biden was Vice President under Obama).

Again, for those who are not aware (or do not remember) all the mainstream media channels were incessantly yacking on and on at the time about how these accusations were just "misinformation". The media propagated a theory or narrative that the Russian government had a role in propagating misinformation in the U.S. during the election.

Since that time, even CNN has had to rather quietly admit that the Hunter laptop story was legitimate.

To be fair, this isn't entirely the "biggest scandal" (referring the ex-CIA director organizing signatures for a latter making a false opinion statement). This man was no longer officially working for the CIA by that time. But this was a high level person and his words carried weight. As CIA analyst he had served the presidential daily briefer to George W. Bush.

Michael Morell has now told the House Judiciary Committee that Antony Blinken, the current Secretary of State, was the senior Biden campaign official who contacted him three days after The NY Post published an email from the laptop which suggested Hunter had introduced his Ukrainian business partner to his father, then-Vice President Biden.
Morell said that before Blinken's call, he had no intention of writing any statement exonerating Biden.

Of coarse he's only admitting this now because Republicans have taken over the House, launching investigative hearings, and he was subpoenaed, put under oath and forced to talk.

The State Department refused to comment on whether Secretary of State Antony Blinken disputed Republicans’ assertions that as a senior adviser to the 2020 Biden presidential campaign he was involved in recruiting former intelligence officials in an effort to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story ahead of the election.
When asked specifically if Blinken disputed the accuracy of the assertions and if he planned to comply with Republican lawmakers’ request for more information, State Department Deputy Press Secretary Vedant Patel responded, “That is not a State Department issue, so I don’t have a comment for you on that.”

... Regardless, the problem in 2020 was that the Biden campaign needed that laptop to be written off as a political dirty trick, or better yet, a Russian plant. We now know that Antony Blinken, former campaign aide and now Secretary of State, went to former acting CIA director Mike Morell to “help” Team Biden by getting 50 former spooks and intelligence officials to sign their names to a letter discrediting the laptop, and then the letter itself was shopped to Politico – who then published it under the title “Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say“.

According to Jerry Dunleavy at the Washington Examiner, the entire point of getting Morell to create the letter was to give Joe something to use during the final debate with Donald Trump.

The quoted language from the Morell email, sent on Oct. 18, 2020, was read to the Washington Examiner verbatim and identically by two independent sources who had access to the email.”

Morell’s email explained that both he and Polymeropoulos believed Russia was involved in the Hunter Biden laptop stories and that Trump likely planned to attack Biden over the laptop revelations in the upcoming debate.”

“We want to give the VP a talking point to use in response,” Morell wrote, the two sources confirmed to the Washington Examiner.”

Morell has previously testified that one of the reasons he helped put the letter together was to help Joe Biden “because I wanted him to win the election.”

None of the 51 signers of the letter had access to the laptop, and thus, minimally, knew they were making an unverified claim. Each and every one needs to be asked, under oath, when they knew the letter was an in-kind campaign contribution.
