Obesity in USA and the "invisible hand of market"

Currently 36% of US adults are obese. Don't you find strange, that such a rich and developed country can't solve such a simple problem?
I have heard that rich people are usually less obese, but not sure. Anyway, even very poor people now are richer than people 300 years ago.
I want to speculate, that this situation illustrates the fundamental problems of our civilization: the humanity is like an anthill, where everybody uses narrow specialization for earning money, and a global administration does not exist. What do you think?

People over indulge because food is so easy to get, especially unhealthy carb/calorie rich food.

I always laugh when I see those commercials wanting you to donate money for the starving kids in America, ain’t nobody starving here. There is so much free food and almost anybody can get EBT and spend it on whoopers and Big Macs, to sum up Americas eating habits in a nut shell gluttony the first deadly sin.

Besides fast food loaded with fat and carbs, our packaged/processed foods are packed with sugar, fat and salt.

I've had to turn my diet around because 3 years ago I had a blood test and the tryglycerides were through the roof. Lots of low or no carb eating along with oatmeal in the morning instead of packaged cereal got it down to normal levels. Plus I lost 15 lbs and I wasn't extremely overweight.

I enjoy a good bowl of oats now and again.I like to sweeten it with honey.

One of the deadly spices in our food is salt. The recommend amount of sodium intake per day is 2300 mg. We, on average, take it half again that much salt. Look at the levels of sodium in a container of ramen noodles or Chinese Noodle Soup. Not to pick on the Asians check out the sodium levels on any of any frozen entre. You can take more than your daily recommended intake on one meal alone. Everything has a sodium content, even raw eggs and milk. All of which adds up. Salt in the body tends to retain fluid

I am about 5'7" and in 2018 weighed 225 lbs. In October of that year I had a heart attack and was put on a strict reduced salt diet. I am now down to 165 lbs and would like to lose at least 10 more lbs since I am still considered overweight. I changed two aspects of my diet. (1) Reduced salt and (2) smaller meals and only two per day. The smaller meal is easy because without the salt most are tasteless and you eat what you need rather than what you want.

The wife gets sweetened dried cranberries to add to it. Not enough sugar to really worry about but really adds to the flavor.

Oh, and I also add a handful of unsalted almonds to it. Heart healthy and really adds to the taste.

Watched a lot of people (too many) die in my time, never heard a one moan "If only I ate more oats and tofu..."
