What we have lost through COVID

Obviously people, loved ones
Wrecked economy still not reestablished
Confidence in government science/health science
Confidence about the ability of the "land of the free to hold free elections
Money: Taxes, unfathomable debt as never before seen., 401 K dollars ( unless you were rich or connected)

But to me the worst part has been the loss of freedoms and growth of government which are the same thing of course. The increased dependence upon government in just 3 years is staggering.
We have lost decades worth of ground to the ever present danger of government intrusion in just 3 years
They told us whether or not we could work, where we could go, what injections we must receive, what to wear on our faces and in some cases even how large a group we could congregate in. They now partner with media in unholy alliances to shape and control opinion and information which we would have never tolerated a few years back.
Now they exert more and more control at will. Over the people, but over industry, including healthcare. And they are signing no more fossil fuel mandates right and left with no real plan on how the required electricity will be produced, threatening to plunge us into darkness

There were a couple of good things, but they could be stated as loss...

We lost confidence in the beloved globalized JIT supply chain.
America lost access to some manufacturing and security needs (Chips).
A lot of people, including me, found great local sources of some staples that benefit my neighbors and me.

Given time, I could think of more.

not all of us. but it was amazing how compliant most of us were.

The whole episode has been a strange experience for me, financially it hasn’t effected me at all, at the initial shut down in England my employer notified me I’d be put on furlough indefinitely until notification to return to work. The government was financially recouping wages paid for us on furlough.
After 3 weeks at home entertaining the wife with my manly home DIY skills I had a phone call from my boss, a local council contract was given to us, any government or council work was deemed a priority. The secretary of my company emailed me company signed document for me to print off to carry with me and show law enforcement if challenged.

Thus! I returned to full employment thereafter, only effected off work as I say for 3 weeks.

As I had documents I used supermarkets early in the mornings along with hospital emergency workers, everything for me was Chungking along nicely.

As soon as the covid Vaccinations came out I had them all, travelling around the country is what I do, I see and mix with a lot of people, old people, all sorts, of every nationality, one can’t be too careful.

At the end of furlough most people had to repay the payment, my 3 weeks basic pay was hardly anything, but it paid bills. Since the end of restrictions I still find the whole episode confusing, I have little empathy for those that were apprehensive on receiving a vaccination, obstinate ill advise, misinformed…..maybe, I just can’t be bother to read any more about it.

And then they started to ask people to have a rapid test if you had fever or even if they had the die hell covid vax then you had to stay home ...so ridiculous...I was thinking are those people are real...they really are little sheep
