    Paris under the Third Reich.

Democrat voting women should be obliged to live for a year in Saudi Arabia.

    Wasn't communism extremely conservative?

There was never any need for gay rights. They have been treated equally within our laws for a while (as long as they didn't ponce about for no reason).

Fascinating to that l'hotel Rothschild was the Parisian Gestapo headquarters.

I bet that's not in their current welcome guide.

Sorry to be the only commentator on this piece, but after three/four days I finally watched the whole thing.

I had tears in my eyes (from its production as well as the events portrayed to which I was frankly unaware - despite it being obvious that the Wehrmacht and then authorised authorities held Paris throughout the war).

The germans looted Paris. The literally stole everything that could be moved and put on a truck to Germany. They stripped every museum, art gallery, every posh private house. Stuff deemed to be 'degenerate art", ie art by jewish artists, was burned or destroyed, everything else collected in the Louvre, which became the largest clearing house for stolen goods in history

It turned out, for example the chandelier in Nicola Sturgeons Office was in fact looted from an unknown Paris mansion. the Germans that stole it concluded after a while they would never get it back to german because of how fragile it was, so they chucked it of the lorry as they fled Paris when there allies advanced . It was subsequently found by Lord Bute, a Colonel in the Scottish Highlanders regiment. who quickly too it into "protective custody" and had it shipped back to his country seat, Bute House where he installed it in his Study.

Ironically, When the Scottish Government was created, Butes donated Bute House to be used as the main government building. A few years ago, someone realised Nicola Sturgeons office was in the old Study, and thus the chandelier she sits under in in fact stolen nazi war loot.

I declare that the entire content and attachments of any and all of my posts are for the purposes of personal entertainment, and that i'm perfectly happy the stuff i post is true. Do I care if you doubt my sources or information?, Not one flying fuck. . That's your prerogative, but not my concern.

My exmother in law lived in malmesbury near Swindon in Wiltshire during the war. The 101st were based in a camp, as a young woman she befriended a few of them and her mother did ironed laundry for them.

As this was interesting history stuff I read all I could of the 101st. One interest fact was when a company of 101st entered the “Eagles Nest” Hitlers mountain retreat one of them unscrewed the overhead brass light fitting over Hitlers bed and took it back to the USA. So to be fair there was looting on both sides

What really bugs me is the lie that king whats-his-name was a love struck Romantic, but in fact was a nazi sympathizer and the fear was England would be handed over to Hitler and that's why he abdicated. I believe this to be true, if anyone knows differently, please by all means, set me straight.

It has to be said that even as heir to the throne, the Prince of Wales admitted doubts as early as 1919 about his fitness for the role he was born to. He wrote to his mistress Freda Dudley Ward, ‘I have so often told you sweetheart that I’m not ˝ big enough man to take on what I consider is about the biggest job in the world.’ His father, George V, shared this lack of confidence, telling one court functionary that should Edward become King – as was inevitable – he would ‘wreck the monarchy and the Empire.
