Update, the Magtec rifle primers are a no go, I made about 400 rounds of them. Shot around 250 through my CZ SP01 and my Browning Hi Power, the CZ did not do well at all with them. I’d say about 20% failures, but the HI Power had no problems with them, much stronger main spring even though the trigger pull weight is about the same as the CZ. Not even going to try them in my striker fire guns, I’m gonna shot the rest of them in my 9mm carbine. Surprisingly the CCIs work great in all my guns even my striker fired.

I’ve made it this far on my stock but the supply is now getting low and I’m having a hard time accepting the new reality of reloading components pricing. Hoping the supply and pricing continues to improve, then I’ll bite the bullet and stock up.

During the whole ammo shortage I was still able to shoot as much as I wanted. I have a large stock of new ammo I keep for SHTF that I haven’t broken into and use my hand loads for training. I shoot a lot average twice a week, usually well over 1000 rounds fired a week. That’s a combination of rifle, center fire handgun and rimfire, recently got a rimfire AR and Glock to ease up my consumption of center fire ammo but still ended up shooting 600 rounds of 9mm last week, along with another 600 in rimfire.

My rounds fired for 2022 was 28,740 all combined with over 12,000 of that being center fire handgun rounds. I have resorted to mandatory rimfire days about twice a month where I’ll only shoot my 22’s, those days can easily see 800-1000 rimfires shot down range. Good thing 22 is still cheap and available or I’d really be in trouble.

That is using far more ammo in a month than I fired when in the Army in a month.
I used to reload ammo and found it is very good to pass time reloading ammo. Are you firing this much ammo for a purpose or just fun?
