Someone throws a spanner into Black holes

Well this puts the cat amongst the pigeons

Researcher from the University of California, USA published a paper in which they claimed a new area law in general relativity that is based on an interpretation of black holes as curved geometric objects called "holographic screens."

According to them, Holographic screens are in a sense a local boundary to regions of strong gravitational fields, and "Future holographic screens" correspond to gravitational fields which pull matter together such as black holes, whereas "past holographic screens" correspond to regions which spread matter out such as the big bang.

According to the holographic principle, the amount of information or entropy in a given area is related to the surface area. So by interpreting the area as a bound on the entropy, the area law can reveal the direction of thermodynamic time (which, as the scientists note, is not the same as mathematical time). Because the area of future and past holographic screens increases in different directions, the direction of time is different for the two types of screens. In past screens, time moves forward.

Expanding universes, such as ours, involve past holographic screens, and so we naturally perceive thermodynamic time as running forward. In contrast, time runs backward in future holographic screens. In a sense, this interpretation has the odd result that thermodynamic time runs backward inside black holes and collapsing universes.

So falling into a back hole and looking back you would see the entire history of the universe unfold before you running backwards to the big bang.....it be pretty quick as well, somone else has calculated the observer time taken between falling across the event horizon of a supermassive black hole and hitting the singularity would be about 16 seconds.

I like people who think outside the box. That's how we move forward in our knowledge.

All that is very interesting, but I think reading all that threw a spanner wrench inside my head. I'm gonna need a hard reboot.

They want to chase God to nothing, but He gets a vote, The Vote.

BTW UKSP, you just picked up the "Manifold" banner that reptile eye used to run around here touting.

    Good luck with that.

ONLY if it can be weaponized, that's how we've moved forward throughout history.

Nonseqitor used to run around here talking about manifold crap till it just about drove me, and I presume others, nuts.
You should remember this, you were here for some of it.

I thought you would have gotten that from what I posted, as a minor poke in the ribs about posting a Manifold based article...

The infamous " Calabi-Yau " manifold, conjured up to house all those extra dimensions required for the "landscape", or String Theory, or multi-universe theory.

I like science too. But when it comes to eliminating the existence of a Creator in order to advance the preposterous theories of happenstance is ludicrous, and has no place in real scientific discovery, either outside the box or in it.

As to speaking English, it is impossible for the Universe to exist with other Universes. One contains it all. Why would additional ones be necessary? Universe is the entire scope, the whole of everything.

It was me introduced the Great Unwashed of this forum to Calabi Yau manifolds. Nonsqrt always used to get obesssed with brains and neurons.

Well since theres no empirical evidence of god, one can assume non exists. There is also no particular reason to think there is only one universe, thats a very arrogant point of view.

As for " impossible for the Universe to exist with other Universes", there no evidence for that either, Your post is just opinion and contains no verifiable facts.

and again " Universe is the entire scope, the whole of everything" is entirely unproven and we have little evidence of whether the universe is open or closed or what may or may not be beyond the 43B light year boundary.
