Carlsbad Caverns was only about an inch from San Antonio on this map so I told my wife, look its close, lets go see the Caverns. While an interesting drive it was almost 10 hours away at 474 miles! The scale of the map was a bit off I think. From there we went to El Paso, only 151 miles away. When I left New Mexico I had about a half tank of gas. I did not see another sign of civilization until I was about 10 miles from El Paso and almost out of gas!!

    This country is huge!!
My neighbors were from NYC and had never driven a car. They took driving lessons and bought a nice used car. Phil asked me for a nice Sunday drive and I suggest north on US287 over a range of mountains and down into Wyoming to Laramie. Then east on Happy Jack Road to Cheyenne, have brunk at Little America, and I-25 from Cheyenne back home.

Phil and the family left about nine and we back by 11:00. I went down and asked if they had car trouble. No, no car trouble. Then Phil said, "When we went over the mountain and you could see forever."

    "Yeah."
    "Pat, it was empty."
    "Yeah, pretty much."
    "That's scary."
I thought a minute and laughed and said, "Phil have you ever gone down a flight of stairs into a subway station full of people?"
    "Sure."
"That's terrifying. People are dangerous. Empty country isn't."

Also, the two British merchant marines met me and a girl friend the next day and we took them to Fort Clinch, a historic monument from the Second War of Independence. Ann and I kept talking about the old, old fort and one of the sailors laughed and said, "The building my family has a flat in is older than this."

Both space and time are relative.

My ex-MIL (immigrated from France in the 1920s) used to dog me that everything here was new and had no history.

I zinged her back that Greeks probably think the same of France.
Marxists, Socialists, Democrats, Russians, and the legacy media.

They lie all the time. They lie about everything.

They know they are lying. We know they are lying. They know we know they are lying.

They lie anyway. It's what they do.

Here is a fact. 1mm of soil is deposited upon the land per year. In Gloucester city we have a glass covered dome view over the original street level. In fact the whole of the city we walk over the original streets buried below. Yes! You’ve guessed it. 1,000mm= 1 meter of soil.

The whole of Gloucester city is one big Pompeii buried under the ground.

Gloucester is a time capsule, Roman, Anglo Saxon, Norman, Tudor, it’s all here.

Most of the main towns and roads in the UK have roman remains. The town im from you literally can dig a hole anywhere and find medieval or roman remains. It also has three roman roads convering on it. and theres the traces of old roaman roads all over.

heres one. See the straight line that runs north south past Byards leap from Navenby to Ancaster, that is 8 miles, it runs in a straight line with a coupel of small deviations ten miles further north to Lincoln and another 20 miles south before it fades out, and it starts again on the other side of Lincoln as the A16 and runs 26 miles with no deviatioin. Thats a roman road. You can tell Roman road because apart from being straight as a die, they are 8 men wide (Romans Legions marched 8 abreast) and ther is a ditch and a hedge each side for defence.

At Winchcombe I had to lay a gas main across a school park, the local area clerk of thd works informed me I was to dig no more than 250mm =12” to lay the pipework. The reason being the whole area was an Anglo Saxon settlement and all public works had to be informed.
