Some of these responses shocked and saddened me.

"I worked at a day care back in the day for a few months & the women would do stunts like this. On the other hand the kids would pay them back {trust me the kids tortured the daycare workers that tortured them}. I didn't get involved with their bull on either side."

The story had nothing to do with gays, nothing to do with Columbus, Ohio, and I can't imagine adults whining about abuse from kids. I have two kids, who are old now, and was a Juvenile Officer for seven years dealing with kids and parents and I read to kids in grammar school for years. None ever abused me. I'm not sure how a child could abuse me but then I'm an adult male.

Then you haven't worked at a day care. There was a couple of family of children that were full on ghetto. Hitting the day care workers. Not just the tiny kids but the ones around 10 to 15. These children could wail on a teacher. My brother had worked there for a little longer & he had to break up some these kids attacking the day care workers. They were punks. Frankly this particular day care was in a messed up part of town with a lot of ghetto parents & it showed but I never agreed with retaliating against the kids like the women did.

I never thought like I said it was my thing to say anything. The kids respected & responded to me a whole lot better than the childish women. Being an adult in a business full of bratty kids & bratty adults acting like kids is hard being paid minimum wage & no insurance. Is it any wonder day cares around here in NM don't last long. This daycare I worked at has long since went out of business.

Yeah.....I could have seen that happening at the daycare I worked at. And the parents would have thought it was funny too. I always tried to gather the kids & have them occupied with either reading to them, watching a good cartoon movie that helped get tired then get a snack & put them to nap time or just be human with them & talk with them while they colored or painted. I hated the shenanigans. But if the parents didn't care? I just wanted to be a good role model for them & hopefully the kids would have that good memory. Even the satanic kid I talked with once. Interesting little girl. Shy most of the time. Somewhat reserved would get in trouble at times. About 5 or 6. The rest of the kids didn't hang around all that much. So one day they are out on the playground she is digging a whole in the sand. Always tried to take an interest in what the kids were doing. So I go up to this little girl & just start asking what she is doing. She tells me digging. I nod & ask what you digging for? I'm digging to satan. And she turns & looks at me evil. I nodded & backed away. Okay then. I thought keep digging I'll watch from far away.

Day cares are a joke, more often than not. Parents need to stop outsourcing what they or their immediate families should be doing themselves to a bunch of shady strangers.

I already apologized on the less popular thread. I got a letter from the IRS yesterday and wasn't my normal alert self this morning. Since I live in Mexico the letter arrived yesterday, October 6th, and said if I didn't respond by Sept. 12th I was toast. The government can afford 87,000 more IRS agents but can't afford to teach them to use email.
