    Does ADHD Truly Exist?

Not trolling - a serious question....
You may not believe this: Such a question will be deleted, censored in UK - Facebook etc. For the few hours it is on display vitriol and nastiness will on the menu. It could induce being called a NAZI !!

I do not believe ADHD is a real mental impairment, short or long term. What do you think?

My daughter has attention deficit disorder and it is real, and she fits the symptoms to the max.

People with the inattentive type of ADHD struggle to pay attention or stay focused for long periods of time. Some of the symptoms of this type of ADHD include:1

    • Being easily distracted
    • Difficulty following directions
    • Difficulty staying on task
    • Forgetfulness
    • Losing personal items such as keys or books
    • Not paying attention to details
    • Problems staying organized
    • Short attention span

My grandson has been diagnosed with it by an official person. But he never acts out those symptoms when I am with him, away from his home. When he used to use my settee as a trampoline I never tolerated it. I told him to behave. If he refused I told him we will not go to the park with his football - he would immediately comply and NOT HATE ME. He still wanted to be with me in the park. The same when he speak to me, he will put his phone down and speak, with others he does not take his eyes off his phone, even when spoken to.

It is true, I have considerably more Neanderthal DNA than the average Brit (north West European)
I have read studies from scientific and medical reports that high percentage Neanderthal/ humans suffer unique mental problems.
Ever since I became mentally aware at my early childhood I’ve always known I was different, I haven’t been tested for autism…ADHD I’ve read a lot about these mental problems, when I was younger there was only one term used (slow learner)
As an adult I’ve learned to cope and get on with my life, it hasn’t held me back that you’d notice. Marriage, children… never out of work.
Because of mg very high Neanderthal DNA I am wired differently in the brain, some things I’m good at., a few things I’m not. Being honest is one of my traits I have to keep a check of…. I am truly too honest.
    RIP Wes.

    Yep.

I have some traits but thank God no so-called medical people ever caught me like some prey and prescribed drugs.

This is my take were I to ease on my rigid stance on this matter.
I am not criticising valid opinions but I have observed, on many occasions, a child doing whatever it likes and the parents not asserting any form of control except to give the child whatever he/she demands via his/her behavior.
Example: Child running around the room, with other people in the room, a total nuisance, who is almost rewarded by the words - "Oh, he has ADHD" ?? back in the day this ADHD was never heard of. Parents, would drag child off the furniture and put him out of the room until he behaved.
All I am saying is ADHD was never, ever mentioned and the out of control child became orderly.

As I have said: My Grandson does not act unruly in my presence. He is not quiet either, he is normal. Yet is uncontrollable in his own home to which he was diagnosed as having ADHD. He clearly does NOT have ADHD. He has unrestricted freedom to do what he likes.
I have proved he does not have ADHD so this means all the children diagnosed as having ADHD by the same officials (specialists or whatever) might just live in a home with no discipline.

Had a student once whose family was from Chile. He was a brat. I was given a form to fill in so that he could be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Me being me, and not an advocate of doping up kids because they misbehave, ticked NO on all of the boxes. He left school and, so I was told, went to live in Chile for a few years with rellies who still lived there. I saw him in the shopping centre a few years later and he came and spoke to me. A quiet, decent young man, had full time employment and we had a great chat. All that brattiness disappeared, a totally different person. Seems they don't tolerate ADD/HD in Chile!

Just to add, I also have had two different students at different times (both female), one who served me in a shop and one who stopped me outside the supermarket and wanted to chat. The shop assistant apologised to me for (as she said) being a little bitch at school and she wished she had listened to me and been better behaved. She said she realised that being a shop assistant was not the career she wanted and was planning on going to TAFE and getting qualifications for something better. The other woman chatted to me a year before I retired and, like the other girl, apologised for her behaviour. She told me about her life and her kid and how she had regretted not listening to me at school (and her other teachers as well of course). She had fallen on her feet and done well for herself, turned her life around. But it was nice to get an apology from both of them. There are students who have wanted to have a D&M and I have stood there chatting with them and damned if I can't remember them or their names.
