I had a friend who was a Southern Baptist and we finally agreed to not talk about the three G's because we'd never agree. The three G's were guns, gays, and gods. I didn't want to change his mind but he definitely wanted to change mine. I've never knocked on a stranger's door and told them they should not believe whatever they want to believe.

I did not go around telling people the Russia/Trump Collusion story was bullshit and I didn't go around telling people the Jussie Smollett story was bullshit. But, if people brought either up to me I would respond. If I was in a group and someone brought up either one I responded. I didn't tell people that the covid pandemic was all based on government lies but when it came up I would respond.

And, I believe that if you teach your children from pre-school on to believe miracles, magic, and other nonsense you are preparing them to believe Jussie Smollett, Joe Biden, and Adam Schiff. You are preparing them to believe Dr. Blasey Ford, Anita Hill, and Michael Avenatti.

A few weeks ago a man told me about a Jewish woman who as assaulted by three men here in Oaxaca because she was wearing a Star of David pendant. I asked, "Who was it?" "Oh, I don't know." "Well, where did you hear about it?" "Some woman at the English library said she'd heard about it." "When and where did it happen?" "She didn't say." I said, "It never happened. Most Mexicans don't know a Star of David is a Jewish symbol and they don't hate Jews anyway. A Star of David is a good luck charm."

For some, there is no smell test. They were taught to believe. Millions believed Dr. Blasey Ford who said she was sexually assaulted but she didn't know when or where or who was there but she knew it was Justice Kavanaugh who did it. Some people believe anything because that's how they were raised.

I pay no heed to the atheists, it's their right not to believe, I simply find their constant, nay, OBSESSIVE putdowns of all things pertaining to religion to be more a case of convincing themselves than others... in the end if I'm wrong in my beliefs, oh well... if they're wrong in theirs, oh Hell.
It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them. Mark Twain

I don't understand their need to come into threads of faith to preach atheism in that particular place either.

I feel an urge to point out that quoting the bible to prove,
confirm, or validate what the bible says, is a blatant example of a
Logical Fallacy. It's TEXTBOOK...and I even think you know which
    one it is.
    Regarding "logical fallacy" :
Look at my avatar. What message does that send to you?
Do you think that, say, Patton and Rommel, in their time together,
were interested in discussing what was or was not a logical fallacy?

Statement: The human species is by nature a warrior species
and hostile and combative and adversarial. Humans are Tribal.
Enemy oriented. What do you think all that means with regard
to your point about a "logical fallacy'?

They're nade in the image of God and God has written His image on their soul
and even though they put forth a HUGE effort to try to escape that image. they
    can NOT . . . even . . . POSSIBLY ... escape it.

    So?

So they are naturally drawn to threads about God and faith.

    They can't stay away.

Jen, critical thinking is not "preaching atheism".

"Critical thinking is a kind of thinking in which you question, analyse, interpret , evaluate and make a judgement about what you read, hear, say, or write. The term critical comes from the Greek word kritikos meaning "able to judge or discern". Good critical thinking is about making reliable judgements based on reliable information." (https://www.criticalthinking.org)

If "reliable judgements based on reliable information" presents a problem for certain religious claims, which rely on FAITH, and a DESIRE to believe, why is it wrong to point that out?

I imagine that Patton and Rommel were not relying on 10 foot angels to sway the battle in their favor, but rather employed reason, observation, and experience in their strategy?

    You know, REAL WORLD stuff?
