Sure, I've done a zillion TV spots in the rock genré...but, classical composition is new for me.
Still...there's only twelve notes. The real work is spent on those fiddly bits, in between.

If you want to see the violin in action with prog rock, check out an artist named Arjen Luccasen, a.k.a. Aryeon. He basically writes Sci-Fi Prog Rock Operas. He asks a variety of artists to either sing or play on his projects. From what I hear, they tend to clear their schedules enough to arrange for studio time. He's a Dutch fellow and is only about 7 feet tall.
This one has violin in it. He has an Aussie singer names Michael Mills on it.
