    There are many, very overweight people in the US that have never been anywhere near a welfare check. The 40's followed the Great Depression, where every bean was counted, and no fresh food was ever thrown away. From that we went to 'those whom indulge, bulge'. In layman's terms: gluttony.

    Obesity is rampant in the welfare class.
