My mother was brought up by aging very Victorian parents and as you can imagine adopted those ideals. All foreign muck was off the menu in our house… eggo steako chippo was the mid week fare. Beef joint, potatoes, cabbage, peas, and carrots on a Sunday…. Without fail.

Italian food? I’ve never tried anything else except spag bog, Curries that’s a different matter, I’ll eat chicken madra/vindaloo no problem. All other foreign muck forget it.
I avoided England when I lived and traveled in Europe because I was afraid I would really hate the (spiceless) food. My daughter recently spent a couple of weeks in England and Wales. She likes spicy as much as I do. She said English food was surprisingly good. She loved it. Go figure.

American Italians its the same way, your favorite is what your mother cooked. Mine cooked sicilian with a mix of foggiano <from foggia> the foggiano comes from my fathers mother and sisters.
My least favorite was the fat noodles and thick sauces of Bologna. Naples was definitely good. I had a friend from Naples who sort of adopted me and she called Sardinian food "paesano" (peasant) food. She'd yell it across the restaurant so the owner would hear and he would come out shaking a spoon at her.

Never been a big fan of Italian food, mostly I think because I’m not big on pasta.

Mexican food, I’m burned out on it. Married to a Mexican American who’s mother immigrated (legally) from Mexico. I’ve eaten authentic Mexican food for a very long time, the whole been there done that too many times comes to mind. Thank God before my dear sweet German mother passed away, she taught my wife how to make some good old fashioned German/American food. Save the enchiladas and make me some good old meatloaf and mashed potatoes please.

I used to like octopus. But like or not, I've stopped eating them. They are too intelligent to eat. They may be aliens but still.....
