    The real history of Eliot Ness.

    Remebered only for the Untouchables, and then wrongly, Eliot was a decent honourable man who, after Capone was jailed, then went to Cleveland and cleaned up Cleavelands crooked police force, and destroyed its mob racketeering . And at the height of his excellence, he then endured 25 years of bad breaks, bad luck and wrong choices, and died of a heart attack, bankrupt. A man that didnt deserve the end that he got

    Nope.

    Many of the city and county officials were still alive in the early 1970s, when interest in who-might-have-done-it again ramped up, and I was a teen there.

    The theory of that time was, it was an unemployed butcher - the Depression put a lot of people on the street. The butcher could have lost his job due to mental issues, perhaps syphilis, which was a slow-death sentence at the time.

    He could have been a transient, as they now theorize; but it may have been he hit the hobo camps after his murder spree, taking his show into western Pennsylvania.
