The two have rigged the game against other parties. In April 2020 the NYS legislature, relieved of some of their duties by Coumo. Used the time to triple the number of signatures a 3rd party candidate needed to get on the ballot. Interesting priority at that time! Just one example.
McConnel is closer to the norm than an outlier. That's why I call them the Donkephant, others call it the uni-party. Still others call there corrupt, career politicians the bi-partisan swamp.
Another way to look at it is this. The rich have a party, the poor have a party, the middle class doesn't not and we wind up getting stuck the most. Go figure
