The WNBA is a shell game, it only is because of funding by the NBA. Without it it would fold, certainly not making a dime of the lack of fan base. She and the rest of the players are just a charity right off of the NBA.

If the government makes a deal and she comes back to America, she will be let out for time served. Then, she is going to make a fortune for her story with the TV rounds, the book someone will ghost write for her about her ideal, and then the movie rights. She can embellish her story as much as she likes and have Americans gasping in shock and horror. If she can hang in for the time she spends in a Russian prison, her future is set and her fortune secured. Personally, I think she will do a couple of years and then be released and returned to America.
