The two boxes I have were a 150 rounds a box. Now that Joebama has put to the screws to Lake City selling over runs this might not be much of a problem in the future.

I'm sure a heavier firing pin spring would help but this is a varmint rifle and normal civilian rounds are not the problem.

I used 62 gr. Frontier in my first bnuilt AR. 500 rounds without an FTF or accidental discharge. I have been looking for more 62 gr. Frontier ammo as it doesn't have a steel core for my newest AR becasur the barrel is a Noveske 1:7 twist at 14.5" long.

Lake City is a government arsenal operated at this time by Winchester under government contract. They'll keep making ammo just they won't be selling the over runs.

Proper training with a magazine loaded/semiautomatic weapon will prevent slam fires, I guarantee it!

The military doesn't take chances with training.

So it looks like Frontier ammo is best for AR platform type rifles.
I thought that might be the case You could probably modify the firing pin so it projects a bit deeper depending on the design so if you have a gunsmith around ask them about it.

You can reduce them but you cannot eliminate them.

I have some CCI primers, #41 and #34, both are milspec primers. I've loaded some Lake City 5.56 brass with the #41's but have not had the chance to shoot them yet. I've had to divide the brass into 5.56X45, which I sue the 41's, .223 federal and the rest of the .223's. The federal brass is giving me fits with seating primers. I intend to load them separately and use the Federal primers I have. Hopefully, the seating issue disappears. The #34's are for 7.62X54 loads.

The .223's using CCI small rifle primers and Accurate 2230 are giving very good, sub MOA results with Hornady 55gr. FMJ boat tails. This is in an AR platform.

Good luck in your search for a decent combination in your gun.
