    Cheap gun oil

I decided to look at Amazon for gun oils to see what kind of variety there was for a good price. I found one oil called AtomOil, 4 oz for $4.69:

Amazon.com : AtomOil Gun Oil for Gun Cleaning Kit | Gun Cleaner, Lubricant, and Protectant | Non-Toxic, Odorless Formulation for Safe Handling | Gun Accessories and Gun Cleaning Supplies | 4 Fl Oz. Bottle : Sports Outdoors

Also, I remembered 3-in-1 oil is purported as being all in one. Also, it's $4.49 for 4 oz:

Any thoughts about either of these?

Yup I use Ballistol for cleaning and general lubricating. This can be used on wood, leather, etc. When I bought my Cooper Firearms in .223 Remington I called Cooper about using Ballistol for cleaning and using the oil on my wood stock and they said you good stuff and they use Ballistol in the factory. So Ballistol for all around gun cleaning. Ballistol - The Original CLP - Cleans, Lubricates, Preserves

The World's Most Use-ful & Environmentally Friendly Lubricant

Ballistol is middle of the road in cost but you can buy gallon cans of the stuff and that last a long time. You will need your own spray bottle.

For lubricating oil on my 1911s and other auto guns I use the oils made by Wilson Combat called Ultima-Lube II. They have different grades. This is somewhat expensive but I'm still on the same bottles I bought over five years ago. I bought empty needle bottles from Brownell's and that has extended the use of the oil.

    Ultima-Lube II | Wilson Combat

    Hope this helps.

I use Eezox and GunButter. Works for me.

uh, i have an amusing story about 3 in 1 oil from a friend of mine...seems he was once with a "lady companion" and as they were about to "get jiggy with it" she needed a bit of, uh, ahhh, well, "lubrication" if you get my drift...having nothing handy in his garage but some 3 in 1 oil, he thought, "why not"?

needless to say, we called it 4 in 1 oil after that...

Well, I'm open to personal opinions about personal favorites. Looks like Amazon has some Ballistol for nearly the same price per ounce as AtomOil. Ultima-Lube II looks to be a bit more pricey.

I would probably find that funnier if it weren't for the fact that I have a bit of knowledge about how important pH balance is for a...."lady garden".

Here's an oil test someone did comparing gun oil brands with generic oils:

I use Balistol as well, although wifey can't handle the smell of it.

This guy tested 46 gun oils
    https://dayattherange.com/?page_id=3667

He sprayed each on a steel plate, put them outside, and watched the result.

    He did 3 boards.

    The clear winners were
    WD 40 Specialist
    Rust Prevent
    Hornady One Shot
    Frog Lube
I've seen another similar test where Barricade did very good.

I've used Hornady One Shot and Barricade for years. One Shot is sometimes hard to find, it comes in a spray can with a thin spray tube so you can blast it into those hard to reach places. Barricade comes as wipes which is very handy particularly for field cleaning.
