I heard of Qwant but don't have any experience with Qwant, if involved with M$ they probably sell data. Qwant search engine partners with Microsoft

I have the Brave browser and have used the Brave search engine for a couple of years. It might be private but it sucks as a search engine. On non-political items it often fails to provide relevaent results.

On political stuff, its definitely left leaning. I just searched on "Trump" and the top results were from
TheHill (very left)
wikipedia
Washington Post (left)
CNBC (left)
Business Insider (I don't know it leaning)
The Guardian (left)
a youtube video (an anti-trump video)
Seattle Times (left)

etc.

Once a search engine sells out it's time to leave. I am trying the one Trinnity suggested....MetaGer. So far I like the presentation. I haven't tried it out much since I just put it on late last night.
