    Retail of $299 is a bit much. Letís see if $199 is doable when the rage dies down.

    Being a lefty, I could never get into the bullpup thing. Imagine having your cheek up against that bolt.

    ouch!!! being a righty I never thought of that.

    never been a bullpup fan, not enough time on them and too much time on conventional rifles.

    I am not a bullpup fan either, I don't like the receiver that close to my face/eyes.

    I've been thinking about getting a Ruger 10/22 Charger and a "pistol brace" which may or may not be legal in a few months. This might be a good alternative.

    Price going down when the rage dies down?

    300.00-350.00 is pretty standard for 10/22 rifles all over the country when you can find them.

    I really wish they'd go back to producing the 10/22m or move on up to the 22 Hornet in a semi auto. Either of those would put you into "ultimate bugout gun" territory.

    @Wildrose

    The $299 is for the chassis upgrade only, 10/22 NOT included.

    Milled Chassis tend to be pretty expensive even alone. Those I've looked at for Model 700's tend to range between 700-1,500.00. Not sure what all goes into producing this particular unit but it doesn't sound too far out of line to me.

    "Bugout"... polite term for refugee... and no doubt any place that would even consider taking one in will also take their gun for the privilege, and "safety's" sake.

    It's some kind of "high tech" moulded polymer.
