While I've never had any interest in body armor, those who are better get it while the getting's good. This will be followed by the usual " should be for police and military use only" strawman arguments. Here's the rub, though: Body Armor isn't all that useful in a mass murder situation. In fact, ALL it can do, is make certain the perp survives.

The reason I say this, is that, Body Armor only stops the slug, NOT the kinetic power behind it.

Just a few weeks ago some dumb as fuck teens killed their buddy by shooting him with a "Bullet proof" vest on.

IF you are on a mission of mass murder, this armor doesn't really help you, because, if someone shoots you, especially at close range, you are likely going down. Not dead, but, hurting like hell, and the shear force of the slug is like a baseball bat.

The primary purpose of Body Armor is survivability. It will keep you alive, but...if you take a bullet to the chest, you are going to feel it. The bigger the slug, the more you will feel.

A .22 might bounce off, and not really hurt you that much. (But, that could happen wearing a thick, winter jacket.)

A .45, however...is going to knock almost anyone down. MAYBE someone the size of Labron James, charging towards you, or bracing himself, but...he is going to feel it. Probably with a few broken or shattered ribs.

But, it sure does look cool and intimidating, for mentally broken children......

The ATF is raiding and closing businesses at an alarming rate. Cease and desist letters are happening at a frantic pace. Look for the suppression of speech concerning the information needed to build and repair firearms. Even the tooling for such things is at issue. Most Americans are oblivious to what is taking place. Certain triggers are now "machine guns". There isn't any inclination that Biden respects freedoms that are Constitutionally guaranteed. Unless one wants a 4th trimester abortion.

I wonder if there will be increased demand for handguns and ammo that will defeat soft body armor (up to level IIIA)?

10mm, 5 inch barrel, Underwood 140 grain XtremePenetrator.

Pretty much so... me, if I'm confronted with someone I determine is wearing body armor, A-they're gonna get it in the brain-pan, or B-in the crotch (femoral arteries). It's not as if they're wearing something like full-body medieval plate armor or making like Ned Kelly (they took him down by aiming at his legs)

I'm surprised that last round HASN'T BEEN. Remember the yuuge hue and cry over the infamous "Black Talon" rounds, cop killer extraordinaire...why, they'd whizz right through body armor like tissue paper! Of course it was all bullshit, proven to be bullshit, THEY WERE EXPANDING ROUNDS... but, they were, OMG, TEFLON COATED! (big whoop, just marketing). If nothing else it was an object lesson on how the anti-gun crowd can turn a strawman into Frankenstein's monster. They succeeded in getting the manufacturer to pull them, but the jokes on them, the Black Talon turned out to be a grandaddy of the highly effective "personal defense" handgun rounds available today... minus that deadly TEFLON, LOL.
