Even if Putin is removed as leader of Russia, that in no way guarantees that whoever replaces him want to leave Ukraine without Russia's concerns being met. I personally consider it to be quite possible that should Putin be removed from office in some way by agents of Ukraine, whoever succeeds Putin may have new objectives in Ukraine- for instance, removing Zelensky from power. All of these types of goals are a race to the bottom as far as I'm concerned. What I wish Kyiv would focus more on are diplomatic solutions to this conflict.

The worst case scenario is he's replaced by Nikolai Patrushev, head of the GRU, because he is Putin 2.0. Theres others, but they are less likely to continue the war, the lead here is Dmitry Kovalev, ex volleyball player turned Administrator, and with no military background at all.
