Ok that’s fake news, but getting a much better S&W model 19 classic for $14 is absolutely true.
A while back I bought a new S&W model 19-9 classic, beautiful gun even with the Hillary hole. S&W new lock up is the real deal, locks that cylinder tight. Gun shot great, have 750 rounds fired with it combination of .357 mag and .38 special. But and a big but, it had the heaviest trigger pull of any S&W I currently own or owned in the past. Single Action pull of around 6lbs and a double action pull so high my Lyman trigger gauge couldn’t even read it(over 12 lbs).
Bought a S&W trigger spring kit from Wilson Combat for you guessed it $14. Easy install, biggest concern was not scratching the blue side plate. The kit comes with a new hammer spring and three new trigger return springs in 12, 13 and 14 lbs. I first tried the 12 lb but the trigger did not return as hard as I like so replaced with the 13, perfect.
The new numbers blew me away, I expected better but not this much of a difference. Single Action took five readings and got an average of 3.0 lbs, Double Action five more readings with an average of 7.5 lbs.
My first though was, yeah I hope it’s not so light that I get light primer strikes out of it. So I loaded two shell casings with just live primers in them and shot one in DA and one in SA, both fired with deep primer strikes. I’m thinking it’s good to go, but will take it out next week and shoot around 100 rounds through it to make sure.
But man really really happy with this WC product.
