    Welcome young lady.
I never called you a VAXhole. You ASSumed that I did. Your self-ASSumed guilt is your problem and not mine.

It takes a FAMILY to raise a child--Not Hitlery Klinton's Socialist, Anti-Family, Nanny-State...I mean, "Village".

Islam is a religion of violence and terror as practiced by the Islamofascists. The Muslims that do speak out against terror are then terrorized by the Islamofascists and are ignored by the Lap Dog Media.

Just idle curiosity - what "gun culture" do you believe that we have?

I grew up in 'Wild West Wyoming', and I find it interesting to see/hear how 'city slickers' have skewed views on guns. Not saying that you do... but I am curious if you fit that description for me.
Full disclosure I grew up in a household without guns and they were never even really a thought to have in our home when I was a kid. My parents didn't want them in the house, and I rarely ever heard them talk about them when I was a kid. They are also more left leaning than I am too, admittedly. The first time I ever shot a gun was probably a few years ago and it was my husband's pellet gun. I know nothing about them, I'm probably scared of them, and have never had much of a desire to have one. That being said I don't believe that "guns" kill people.

What I meant by gun culture is the fact that it's literally front and center in our constitution. They were as much a part of a typical colonial household prior to the revolution, during the revolution, and after the revolution just as a steak knife is common today in almost every household. It's that early pioneer or frontier experience along with the revolution that just made guns part of the fabric of the country. The unfortunate part of that is that as the people within our country today, and probably over the past 70-100 years, drift further and further away from general decency, faith in God, and that melting pot mentality, and then you add in with the sheer volume of guns in the country it just creates a lot of violence in my opinion.

As long as you don't condemn those of us that excercise our 2A right, you're fine in my book. Welcome to the forum.

But, I don't have a desire to critique or dissect what you said/meant - it was a curiosity question, and I appreciate your explanation.

I hope you stick around and participate in the discussions.

I think that your putting the cart before the horse. I agree with everything above leaving off the "
and then you add in with the sheer volume of guns in the country it just creates a lot of violence in my opinion." You were right with everything you said. But without guns it's survival of the animals that run in packs or those that are stronger, etc.. Guns are the equalizer because an 80 year old 100 lb woman can take down two 300lb men. Because of guns, could there be more violence..sure. The question is because of guns will less good people be hurt, I'm betting that's a true statement.

Sadly they don't track the numbers of people who have guns & are saved by them. Even tracking those numbers is bad PR for those that want to take them away.

Oddly I didn't grow up with guns although we had them in the house (I didn't know it). I didn't own my first gun until LONG after I retired. I just looked around one day & saw the crap people wanting everything without working for anything. So now I have 3 of them. I haven't fired even one of them yet but they are all loaded & within easy reach. After 20 years in the military & shooting expert every time I don't feel the need to plunk at targets. But they are there if I need them ready to go.
