I declare that the entire content and attachments of any and all of my posts are for the purposes of personal entertainment, and that I do not vouch for the veracity of the content. Neither do I care if you doubt my sources. That's your prerogative, but not my concern.

Are you kidding? What apartment is flat? Half of em have two stories! Come on, man.

Better yet, a "driveway" is where one parks one's car, whereas a "parkway" is a limited access place where one drives one's car at high speed.

Okay I did a little research. Lorrie came from a older form of English meaning to pull. It first meant to "trucks" on the railroad. As more and more trucks to the road and are pulled by and engine up front trucks became lorries. Isn't the Internet wonderful.

Flats to apartments. Many of our apartment builds are really high and many of a single apartment in expensive apartment buildings are two story. Nothing flat about them. I think the difference is that in America the ground level of a building is our 1st story whereas in Britain the 1st story starts at what we would call the 2nd story. Therefore, the ground level is flat. That of course carries over to all apartments at all levels.

As to sidewalks they are man-made concrete "paths" along side of a road or street. Hence, sidewalk.
