Hi,
I have a very definite purpose for joining this forum. I have an idea to share and I am hoping to gather opinions on the value of my idea, and assuming I get a thumbs up, I am looking for ideas and advise on how to move my idea forward.
My short bio:
I'm am an older gentleman, although my wife will question the latter term. I grew up in a conservative family and most people will classify me pretty far to the right. Personally, I think my beliefs are a blend of liberal and conservative, but I won't go further. I have never joined a political party and do not consider myself a Republican, despite the fact the I have voted for Republicans far more often than for Democrats.
Anyway, I am college educated with a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from U. of Wisconsin. A good part of my career, the most interesting part for me, was writing software used to design Integrated Circuits (IC). We worked with companies like Sun Microsystems, Texas Instruments, Samsung, Qualcomm11, etc. As part of the work, I got to visit England, Taiwan and Russia, a fringe benefit I never anticipated.
Besides going to school, a good part of my youth was spent playing sports, primarily baseball, football and basketball and my biggest loves were baseball and the Brooklyn Dodgers. I am still working on making my first billion dollars and when I do, I am going to buy the Dodgers and move them back to Brooklyn where the belong. I used to watch major league baseball, but I divorced myself from professional baseball in 1991 when rich players argued with rich owners.
Besides sports, I enjoy playing games, although for the last few years my game playing has been limited to playing scrabble with my wife.
I watch the news on TV, but still prefer reading a newspaper, and I get most of my current events from the papers. At least until they papers all go out of business. My son is a wiz at using his cell phone for everything. Personally, I think cell phones are only useful for phone calls and text messages. My wife gets angry with me because I frequently have it turned off and miss her calls. She has not changed my view that phones are a necessary evil.
We raised two boys and it is hard to believe they are now grown men. We have one grand-daughter who is 2 1/2 years old. We see her roughly 2 weeks a month and she is a package of high energy. When she goes home on Sunday nights, we rest for 2 days (just kidding).
I was born in Brooklyn (did I say bring back the Dodgers?) and my wife was born in Manhattan and grew up there. I grew up in New Jersey and we raised our kids there. But we have joined the westward movement and now reside in the Pocono Mountains in eastern Pennsylvania. In the Poconos, I have been writing software, working to startup a website. I'm ready to go out looking for investors, but that is a bit scary, because I know the usual answer will be 'No'. But my hopes will be high that I find the right venture capitalist.
