Wisconsin Dem Frontrunner Sponsored Bill To Eliminate Cash Bail

Wisconsin Dem Frontrunner Sponsored Bill To Eliminate Cash Bail

As state legislator, Mandela Barnes tried to bar courts from considering the severity of a defendant's crime

The Democratic frontrunner in Wisconsin's Senate race sponsored a bill that would have ended cash bail and barred courts from using the severity of a defendant's crimes to argue against their release. As a state legislator in 2016, Mandela Barnes introduced to eliminate "monetary bail as a condition of release for a defendant charged with" a crime. Instead of setting bail, Wisconsin courts would be "required to release a defendant before trial" unless they found "by clear and convincing evidence" that the defendant would "cause serious bodily harm to a member of the community" if released. Under the bill, however, courts could not "use the nature, number, and gravity" of the crimes in question as the sole reason to keep someone behind bars, severely limiting prosecutors' ability to argue that the defendant would be a risk to the community.Barnes's bill—which died in committee—came years after Milwaukee County district attorney John Chisholm espoused similar views in his inaugural campaign. Those views have faced renewed criticism in Wisconsin after Chisholm set what he later an "inappropriately low" bail amount in the case of Darrell Brooks, who allegedly killed six people in a Christmas parade rampage just weeks after a domestic violence arrest. Chisholm, who in 2007 "guaranteed" his policies would put murderers back on the streets, let Brooks walk on $1,000 bail days before the parade tragedy.]
Fond du Lac County district attorney Eric Toney said Barnes's proposal would erode the ability of prosecutors to keep dangerous people in custody.

Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit.

Read slowly and think for a moment just what this guy is pushing.... .

The guy is a loon. That anyone could get elected to a statewide or national office running on such a platform shows just how thoroughly broken we are as a nation.

These guys are getting elected as DAs all over the country. In Seattle and Portland and Los Angeles, and many many other cities. They are being bankrolled by Soros and the Dem party.

They call it Justice Reform---but it works hard to keep these criminals out on the streets, doing more damage to society.

And they change laws, like making shoplifting a misdemeanour if it is below 900 dollars. And misdemeanours mean NO BAIL needed. So these Smash and Grab looters can just steal at will, in the large groups, so individuals only have about 800 dollars worth of stuff in their personal possession at one time.

MANY have already been arrested dozens of times and are out on the street, to keep stealing, immediately.

Until the violence penetrates the lives of the "Rich and Powerful" they will continue promoting it.

Bread and Butter democrats have been convinced that it's "reparations" of a sort and that we owe it to them apparently and until it starts costing them in terms of running out of places to shop and moving into the suburbs they aren't going to be insisting on change either.

Like it or not this is the kind of governance we as a nation elected to have and we're all going to have to pay the cost of it together whether we want it individually or not.
