Clearly, Baldwin did not intend to shoot Hutchins.

But through his negligence, he did just that.

    1. 6. It seems to me that the only way to get that hammer to snap plausibly is if Baldwin had the trigger pulled the entire time he was working with Hutchins.

If I am not mistaken I think the term here would be fanning. Though he may have not been doing actual fanning but more or less the same.

My understanding (having never done it) is you keep the trigger pulled and you could slap the hammer and make it fire. If he had the triggered pulled and was working the hammer with the same hand this could be an explanation.

Number 6 certainly deserves some consideration.

You can't know that, so his stunt is working.

I'll repeat what I THINK may have happened. Bullets you see in gun belts I assume are not real bullets nor are they blanks; I'll call them dummy rounds. The difference is, the dummy rounds are for show, no powder but do have a projectile, the blanks have powder but no projectile except some sort of wadding to hold in the powder. One explanation I read said that "blanks" which I think they mean dummy rounds, should have a BB in them so it is clear they are dummy rounds.

In this case the dummy rounds were marked. What I think may have happened is that the armorer was reloading ammo from the cast shooting the gun. By accident she got at least one shell that had the dummy mark. Someone else got ahold of this round thinking it was a dummy round and loaded for Baldwin. Baldwin being Baldwin was too lazy to check the gun himself and the rest is history. Although even if he had opened the gun and looked it may have been hard to know that there were live rounds in the gun, just going by the mark.
    Bonum est Deus.

This was not an antique "Old West Gun" it was a virtually new remake that does have the safety notch.

What Baldwin describes is utterly impossible because when he released the hammer without pulling the trigger it would catch in either the half cock or safety position unable to fire.

Baldwin is a sociopath, a malignant narcissist, and a professional liar, that's what actors are.

He's crafted a defense and is delivering it vial the media to poison any potential jury and make it impossible or at least highly unlikely to get a true fair trial.

Jurors are supposed to only consider the evidence presented at trial but being humans we cannot wipe our memories of all we learned outside of the jury box when it's time to deliberate.

Unless his finger was on the trigger the gun cannot fire when the hammer is released in such a way.

    Gross negligence on his part.

No matter who loaded it, he was responsible for clearing the gun himself in a safe manner as soon as he picked it up.
