Electric cars are absurd, my cousin who lives on the east coast of fla now,has a tesla he said it was the biggest most expensive mistake of his life.
He tried to drive to NY and it was a nightmare, of finding a charging station then having to wait in line when he finally got to one and the range sucks...he wants to get rid of it but he loses a bundle...

Unrelated comment if I may: I needed a hot water heater I bought an electric one, my neighbor said why not solar. I said solar hot water they wanted 7,000 to put in, it would have took me over 20 yrs to recoop the difference, im 74..I bought a hot water heater from costco delivered cost me 369.00 high efficiency whatever thats worth in an electric heater and I replaced the old one myself for a grand total of a little over 400.00. Whole house solar costs a fortune. People think you put in solar and you never have to touch it...You have to get the panels cleaned regularly and you still have to drain your hot water heater ever 6months like an electric for maintenance...

The answer is so easy and seems to be the one the administration is pursuing.

This administration cannot find its way to the bathroom without help.

All that is needed is to install charging stations. Make it mandatory to install them during new construction. Having a place to plug in your electric car is as short sighted as we need be, the rest will take care of itself. Shutting down coal stations is a start.

How do you solve the issue of space? I am 6'2" and weigh about 300 lbs. I will not fit in most EVs.
Where do you get all the Lithium? The US has ONE lithium mine. We'll have to go to China.
And, How much lithium do you think we have? To do what you and they want, we would need 800,000 metric tons of lithium by 2040. Right now, we have approximately 365 year supply of lithium. If we ramp up production to provide EV batteries, we'll need 100 Giga factories and it would reduce the span to 17 years. Then what?
Now, where do the charging points get the electricity? Of course, they produce it with fossil fuels, since the leftists won't agree to build nuclear plants. SO, all that Climate Change BS is moot, at that juncture. No benefits to electric cars, if you charge them with fossil fuels.
And, California can't even buy enough electricity to serve their population. Rolling blackouts and Brown outs will become the Norm. KWh prices will explode.
Have you noticed that EVs are 2-3 times the cost of IC cars? 46% of Americans make so little they can barely afford food, and pay zero taxes. How do you expect them to survive?
And how does all this affect jobs?
No more coal industry? What about all the related industries? Used cars? How about all the mechanics who will need massive retraining? All the revenue convenience stores collect for oil and gas? And how will it affect Motorsports? It will be like watching WNBA ball, when the dragsters sound like sewing machines.
Electric cars are unpractical for most Americans.
