Research The Naked Communist, Herbert Marcuse, The Frankfurt School origins and Gramsci.
"I told you the economy was going to tank under Trump". "Yeah you did. Pre Pandemic". "It was going to tank even without the Pandemic". "Uh-huh. Trumps economy was hitting it out of the park Pre Pandemic." <---My cut and paste time saving signature - for all the doom and gloom predictors who will try to rewrite history.

Um... that was before "hippies". You're talking about the beatniks mostly. Maybe the "very" original hippies - but the whole deal with hippies was the Vietnam War and Johnson's bullshit around it.

In a way the reaction was similar to what's happening in the black community today. The hippies were basically saying, "your system is bullshit and we're not going to support it and we're going to protest against it every chance we get and fuck you if you don't like it".

What I see is, it's the CONSERVATIVES who've been ruined. We used to fight back, now we just bitch a lot. Conservatives have become fat, lazy, and cowardly. I mean, what's the excuse we always hear? "I have too much to lose", right?

I'm a Woodstock alumnus. Always been conservative. My anchor was always...as today...my music. To be better-than-good at something takes a more sober disposition than people realise.
It's not how you find the notes...it's how your fingers leave them. That's who you are.

Yeah Beatniks were folk music and long winded oratories to nowhere man.
Hippies were free love, real communal style freedom lovers.
The protest style and drug culture born of the (should have hung fonda bitch) and her friends was an anti American culture that had nothing to do with either, they were socialist who knew nothing about the REAL history of the movement they were joining,
They embraced the propaganda they were fed by the communist movement based mostly in DC, hollywood, miami, montreal, san francisco and new york.
It was actually started here in the 30's and it grew steadily from that point by misinformation, criminal acts, subversive infiltration, espionage and acts of actual sedition that were allowed by those already within the government rolls.

PS: One of the people involved was joseph kennedy sr. in the beginning of the hitler years

Hippies were activists, they were mean nasty people, they liked to get in your face just like BLM. The drugs came later, that only started to take the pressure off.

I hear ya NR . We were going to make the trip up from the Deegan but there were reports the Thruway was shut down so we turned around . Those reports (that the NY Thruway was closed because of the traffic) were false so my day in infamy wasn't to be lol . would have been nice to be there cause I loved me some girls in halter tops . I think we slept at Orchard Beach instead .

Don't forget Chicago, home of communism in the USA. Some of them were shirt-tail relatives of mine...

    Ha.

Yes in the 90s PC culture existed but it seemed genuine and sincere. Remember the movie PCU from 1994? PCU seems more like a documentary than a comedy nowadays.

We're not gonna protest. Maybe we should try that.

When I watched Tank Girl in 90s I didnt feel as though the movie was attacking me with girl power or anything and it was never promoted that way. Beyond the insincerity and disregard for evidence, facts and science in the fanatical modern lefts end justifies the means approach to modern politics is the fact that it is hate and not love that motivates them. All of the modern lefts propaganda can be categorized as being 'hate propaganda' because the modern left believes that their hate for anyone that disagrees with them is a justified hate due to the fact that the modern left believe themselves to be morally and ethically superior people. So yeah I think that the modern left does have some parallels with Hitler and the Nazis.
