I think the original of the genre was

But they are all based on the arbitration system, and since the participants have all (to my knowledge) signed a contract agreeing to be bound by the arbitration, the decisions are legally binding on them.

That being said, an arbitrator generally isn't bound to follow the law, not in the way that a judge, or even an administative agency adjudicator, would be bound.

I agree. They have to sign a legally binding document. Also, the show pays any settlements ordered.

Some people are unbelievable. How DO these people function?
All choices, whether bad, good, or indifferent, are choices. Unfortunately, folks who make bad choices are not exactly geniuses and often rely on the judicial system to rectify their bad choices.

Plus, some people are simply asswipes. I am sorry, but that is the truth.

oh no, i agree. ive met a few in my life. One id like to name and shame is JOHN TUGMAN, from Bristol who used to be my boss 20 years ago. When I went off with cancer he tried to give my job away to a spotty teenager on half the salary. I rectified that arsewipery in an Industrial tribunal and made their wallets hurt. What a cunt he was.
