Gentleman. Not to be made in your man cave. This is a kitchen only ice cream creation area.

No exceptions. You don't need the memo on why.

Trumps economy was hitting it out of the park Pre Pandemic." <---My cut and paste time saving signature - for all the doom and gloom predictors who will try to rewrite history.

I have a device that is simply a round ball with a sealable tube down the middle. You put your ice cream mixture in the tube (Its about a pint or so) and then file the ball with ice and rock salt. Then you give it to your kids to roll back and forth to each other and zambesi, you end up with very enjoyable ice cream the kids made themselves while playing a game.

I own two ice cream machines. One from the late 1920's, stainless steel, makes up to five gallons at a time, hand cranked. I found it in a building we were rehabbing in the early 80's. The building had once housed a pharmacy with an ice cream and soda fountain. Paid about a $100 to have it professionally restored and cleaned. I use it about a half dozen times every summer, putting the kids, now the grandkids to work with the crank. They know what's coming and are glad to do the work.

About 18 years ago, I found a second, much smaller machine from the 1950's. Also stainless steel and hand cranked. Makes a quart to a half gallon. Bought it at a tag sale for $8. I replaced a drain gasket and gave it a thorough cleaning. I use it twice a week come summer. There is nothing as good as homemade ice cream or granites, the latter is crushed fruit or vegetables run through the machine. The machine is a lot easier than doing that shake for 5 minutes, grandkids do not shake well, they are too busy laughing. More to clean, but also better ice cream, real ice cream.

I'm partial to granites because they are lower sugar as well as lipids. My wife didn't believe I could do it, but I served a granite made from artichokes at last Thanksgiving that was delicious. A recipe I learned from a high end generous chef at his restaurant. Superb for clearing the palette between dishes at special multi course dinners. And the grandkids go nuts when I make red bean ice cream, made with diced dried fruits I tell them are chopped up gummy bears. They are so gullible at times.

My personal favorites, homemade blueberry ice cream, and ice cream made from briefly poached in wine fresh ripe peaches.

I wonder how using actual vanilla beans instead of extract would taste. There is some mint growing in the backyard.

Its 107 here today and I havent had ice cream in a long time.

Well there would be absolutely no excuse for anyone running out of ice cream with something so easy! I am going to try it.
