For a bit of added flavor, try some rum, fruit brandy or liqueur for that something extra. Tonight I made a quart of vanilla bean with a one ounce shot of Courvoisier, a cognac with peach overtones. Mixes well and made for an excellent different ice cream you'll never find in a store. Last night I made fresh cherry ice cream with a shot of a cheap orange liqueur. I had about a half cup, my wife played at magician and made the rest disappear. Bourbon also mixes well with a variety of ice creams.

Cointreau works well in ice cream as well. As do mangoes. Either singularly or combined.

Cointreau works with almost everything. Makes a terrific ham glaze. 1/4 cup in a sweet potato pie is cause for celebration. Or as part of a sauce for oven roasted cut up butternut squash, with onions, garlic and mushrooms. Divine.

Dinner is over, but perhaps a cointreau iced decaf coffee, after this stormy day. Nice.

It's a nice drop all round
