there's probably a thread or two on this already but here are my own comments.

I spent a lot of money prepping over the past year.

But even so, I'm woefully dependent on basic household stuff working.
Any thoughts on small welders? just for general purpose fixing/building stuff.

    I'm think of this .

operated in the flux core mode, no gas required. could stock up on flux core wire. Can run off my 120 volt generators.

I absolutely would not be using the MIG mode. Anyone know of a good flux-core only welder. Could be cheaper but I'll pay for some quality.

The most important and overlooked tool is a shovel. Needed to stop disease by burying your shit and the dead.
The People have to have real justice or we'll never ever trust the govt again. And that means we fire more politicians until we get constitutionalists.

Lincoln and Hobart will be the better welders that one will find that people making a living welding, use. I would check Harbor Frieght and do some DD and reviews. I know HF is not "Pro" rated, but for those of us that just use a specific tool for one or two jobs, I have found my HF tools and 42" wide tool roll about tool cbainet I bought very satisfactory for my use..

On a note, when and if the shtf, one will need to be welding serious metal like 3/8 thickness and thicker as in vehicle metal parts. A 120 V flux or MIG machine is fine for 3/16 inch steel plate and say 20 gauge sheet metal. But will struggle welding 5/16" to 3/8" steel parts well with a 120V machine.

    love my HF tool chest!

and saw many good reviews of the gas engine water pumps and the predator generators. Some have said "don't buy their cheapest stuff... just buy their better stuff and you'll be OK".

    I might.
