Oh, good grief. As a REAL child, myself, that was my favorite story. Every night, as my mom rocked me to sleep, I'd lay my head on her shoulder, first staring out the window at the tree lined hill of an "S" curved road I could see beneath, imagining myself a part of it, as she'd tell me that story every night, 'cuz, to me, no other story would do. That poor woman. She'd try another, but nope, I wanted that one.

I had to have been awfully young, as my mom wasn't one to coddle any longer than you needed it. I wonder how long that went on. Long enough to have her dread it, and I knew it, but also knew she loved me enough to put up with it.

I never did get that red cloak, though. That was disappointing.
I don't remember having a favorite story as a child. I don't believe my parents ever read to me. I started going to the library on my own when I was 8 or 9. I wanted to check out a book on raising moths but the libararian wouldn't let me. It was entitled "A Guide For Young Mothers"

Then the man, the bear and the wolves started knitting...from the abundance of yarn.
"I told you the economy was going to tank under Trump". "Yeah you did. Pre Pandemic". "It was going to tank even without the Pandemic". "Uh-huh. Trumps economy was hitting it out of the park Pre Pandemic." <---My cut and paste time saving signature - for all the doom and gloom predictors who will try to rewrite history.

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead.
It is difficult only for the others.
It is the same when you are stupid.
