The Brits have a 2020 Tree of the Year

The Allerton Oak in Calderstones Park, Merseyside, was first mentioned in William the Conqueror's Domesday Book of 1086. The local court used to meet under its branches in medieval times as they had no courthouse
It seems all of them have been around for a couple of centuries or more.

The Dragon Oak, a winged dragon slain by a valiant knight.

That tree looks about as good as a lot of stuff over here these days.I reckon it's strong enough to hang quite a few of our treacherous politicians from though.I'd certainly give it a try.

The people that voted for Brexit probably wish the politicians would devote a little less time to giving awards to plants.

There's a whole load of important stuff happening in the UK at the moment.Front page of a national newspaper yesterday was a children's TV cartoon character called Fireman Sam(been around 30ish years) who has been dubbed sexist because he is too male, too white and discourages females from joining the Fire and Rescue Service.3 alternatives have been proposed. One male, one female and one who is presumably ?? who all look like stiffies with frog eyes.I kid you not.
Don't accuse us Brits of being trivial, please.

Larchmont (in Westchester County, NY) has had one for quite some time. 1913. The Penguins used to crack us up by reciting it:
