Question for any comic book geeks Around. (Shazam)

I just watched Shazam. And over all, it was pretty good. But it left me with a question. In the comics, were there 7 Shazams? Or maybe calling them a Shazam Team would be more accurate. Anyway, I remember some reruns of the old Tv show of Billy Batson and some guy in an RV traveling the country, but donít remember any other supper heroís in it. Did this come from the comics? Or is this some Hollywood addition?

Shazam! (who was called "Captain Marvel," even though he has NOTHING in common with the Marvel/MCU character of the same name...) is one of the first Superheroes in the genre.

As it was originally directed at younger children, there were several other related characters, just as there is a Supergirl, Batgirl, etc.

I have not seen the movie, but, I think Dr. Silvanus is in it.

In the future, they plan on introducing "Black Adam," who is pretty much the opposite of Shazam.

In the old TV show, they had ISIS as another show, tied in with the Shazam series. She was not from the comics.

Thanks. Overall I thought it was a good movie. I just wasn’t familiar with the base story and wondered how much was from Hollywood. Of course, most comic book lines have changed so many times since their creation that I guess it’s somewhat unfair to criticize a director or writer for changing something for the movie

I have not seen it yet, but, I will likely pick the Blu Ray up this week.

Until recently, the character was pretty "Campy." (That is where the whole "Marvel Family" came along, but, most of the popular Superheroes get that treatment to some degree, including Spiderman)

Shazam is pretty much a copy of Superman, they have almost identical powers, but, I think the approach they are making in the movie could make it a lot of fun.

I did watch "Venom" over the weekend. Much better than I expected, but, nothing special. They went a bit over the top with the Special FX, in my opinion. It gets good once "Venom" starts speaking......

It’s still a bit campy and geared more towards kids than other comic book movies. But I liked it.
