There have been a lot of complaints from more than a few people about black issues and rants disrupting threads on other topics. SO, you all have a forum for those topics now, so use it.
Also, I will be instituting thread bans when people derail threads and won't stop.
I'm sorry it has come to this, but it has. Hopefully I won't have to use it much.
Carry on, y'all. Play nice.

Thanks, Trinnity.
That "dialect" thread went so bad apparently because I wrote this:
"We have a bunch of latinos here, so they speak with latino accent, or spanish. We have a bunch of negroes here, so they speak that crap they speak. We have a group to the east of us that speak hill talk. Most of us white people speak with a slight southern drawl."
Now, every group of immigrants during the history of America tends to speak English poorly for the first generation. The second generation tends to speak English properly as well as their parents' native language. The third generation tends to speak only English. Only one group consistently refuses to learn English as it is intended. For the Negro community, speaking proper English is considered speaking "white". Speaking "Black" is much better to many of them. It keeps their community down (IMO). Therefore, it is crap. Personally, I find poorly-spoken English to be lazy English. How about working your jaw muscles enough to properly pronounce words???
And, because I am who I am, I don't like English spoken from the deep south, the north east, the north central (egad), Australia, England, or anywhere else that doesn't speak clear English without some funky accent. But that's just my opinion. We all have them.
So, to keep from hurting delicate feelings, I rescind the "crap" statement.
"I am Black, and the way I speak is neither black nor white. The way I speak is intelligent. ... All people, no matter what race they are, have the capability to speak their language correctly."
"Black slang [is]...an informal dialect regularly spoken by 80 to 90 percent of the black population in the United States."

The dialect thread went badly because he asked a legitimate question about regional dialects and you didn't answer the question with any integrity. It was a brief put down of people that ignored the complexity of the question, prompting others to continue the derail with racial humor. Blacks are a minority race in this country and yet, instead of speaking to the larger whole of the country and their regional dialects we, once again, made it about taking a dig at blacks.
Kilgram is a foreigner with a serious thread and you answered with a snark. It's that type of dig that is in every single.thread now, dragging them wholly off-topic. If you don't like the subject matter or you don't feel like responding to the actual topic it is easy enough to just not do it.
It has nothing to do with delicate feelings, and the fact that you with your various "woe is me" threads like "Reluctance" would have the temerity to even accuse others of delicate feelings in any way non-ironic just flummoxes me.

lol. Y'all can't stop. Don't even know why I bothered. ((shakes head))
You realize that your reply is still "doing it", right? You just made a dig. This is what I mean about women. Y'all never let shit go and you think men are too stupid to notice.
Forget everything I said and just take it to the basement and have your cat fight. Please. I'll start popping the popcorn now.

@Trinnity (http://thepoliticsforums.com/member.php?u=7) is going to nail us if we keep derailing threads, so again, I will let it go. This is a thread about African Americans. They can be really nice people. And the chance of being raped or killed by one is like 1 in 18,000. My neighbor, who is black, asked me yesterday if I like to drink beer, as she and her boyfriend were going to invite me over for a beer. And last weekend they had a party. The next day, she told me that if they had been too loud, she was sorry. Nice woman. My (adopted) father was a horrible, horrible man who met God and got his life right. He turned out to be a deacon in the church and overall straightened his life up. I left home the day after my 18th birthday and never saw him again. He died a year later of colon cancer. My half-black brother has a bachelor degree in computer science and is a manager for a bank. He married a white woman and they have two beautiful little girls.
I have nothing against black people. I judge people on character.

This reminds me so very much, of a time that I explained something to my mother and sister, decades ago.
I believe I called it flexing the prejudicial muscle. We all have the ability to do so, and the flexing of it reveals something of us all.
The story went something like this. They had been visiting for a quick lunch, I and was dealing with a Thyssen Krupp elevator tech at a property. He has an incredibly thick Scottish accent, so thick, he is almost impossible to understand. They thought it was cute. Adorable. They actually were laughing as ladies do.
I took the opportunity to introduce a racial point to them, by citing how easily we flex our prejudicial muscles....when it is not a white person. The cashier at the grocery store from the islands. Heavy accent. Can't seem to understand a word of english. Blanks stares when given instructions about something. Smiles and nods constantly, but talks incomprehensibly to most of us. Or the taxi driver, same thing. Repeat instructions, blank stares, conversation about directions and instructions is gibberish and broken.
Then I asked them how many times they had thought how annoying that was, and had internally muttered about going back to someones own country, etc. How often many of us had thought along the same lines, and maybe muttered out loud as well.
They didn't have an answer as to why it was adorable with the elevator guy, so I advised them it was because he was white...and that flexing (or not flexing) a prejudicial muscle is easier when there is a racial identifier.
I think they got it.
