Sir Keir Starmer (https://www.standard.co.uk/topic/keir-starmer) paid £99,431 in tax last year, according to a summary released by Labour (https://www.standard.co.uk/topic/labour), after making £275,000 in capital gains.

The release, published on Friday, showed that the Labour leader paid £44,308 in income tax in 2022/23

He also paid £52,688 in capital gains tax, after the sale of a field in December 2022 partly owned by himself and partly owned by his father’s estate.

It was previously reported that the Labour leader had sold a plot of land he had bought in the 1990s for his parents, who used it to care for neglected donkeys.

He must be on a terrific salary to pay £44,308 income tax, it's well
past my extortionate amount.

I have been retired 8 years and I live on my old age pension and some other state benefits and 2 private pensions from my days at work.Last year I earned £93 per month on one of these.then i received a notice from the tax man which lifted me into the income tax range again and would reduce my monthly pension to £85 monthly.I know it's only £8 a month but. FFS.
