British army would exhaust capabilities after two months of war, MPs told
Fighting resilience undermined by ‘hollowing out’ of armed forces since 2010, defence committee hears

The UK’s ability to fight an all-out war would be marred by the armed forces’ capability, stockpile shortages and a recruitment crisis, MPs have been told.

The Commons defence committee heard that the “hollowing out” of the armed forces since 2010 had undermined the UK’s war fighting resilience, and the army would exhaust its capabilities “after the first couple of months” in a peer-on-peer war.

Jeremy Quin, the chair of the committee, said operations and continuing commitments meant the military was “unable to devote sufficient training and resources to high-intensity war fighting”.

I have been amused by the UK gov't's saber rattling about Ukraine, when the UK Army is less than half the size of the USMC.
The Royal Navy is scrapping ships for lack of crews, but they have enough money to house illegal aliens in luxury hotels and
spy on citizen's social media use.

Well said Don!

It's from decades of cutbacks. When The Donald announced Europe had to pay for its own military protection you'd of thought every European western power would have taken notice?

As I've said many times before ... Europe is finished ... incapable of defending themselves even for a short time.

The NEOlib warmongers, Kristol and crew orchestrated all of this.

Everyone on the planet saw/sees all of these wars and conflicts flaring up the last couple of years (after the uncooperative to their designs) President Trump was ousted from office.

Oh look...all of these EU nations raised their Defense Budgets by billions upon billions of dollars.

Hmm. Now who would be selling to them? That's a toughie. Gonna have to puzzle that one out.

This is what you get when Europe become dependent on America (vassal states) and NATO (second rate military) for their defense while there is still no evidence that Putin wants to invade Poland or Germany as it wouldn't make sense at all while he nears his stated objective to stop at the Dnieper River.

Now with paranoia and stupidity growing in Europe they start rebuilding their military to counter a bogus concern.

The original Latin (https://www.thoughtco.com/is-latin-easy-119456) of the expression "if you want peace, prepare for war" comes from the book "Epitoma Rei Militaris," by the Roman general Vegetius (https://www.thoughtco.com/roman-army-of-the-roman-republic-120904) (whose full name was Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus). The Latin is, "Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum."

That is true NEO, but NATO was created to counter the USSR an authoritarian state that was a real threat to Europe and the world in general which had its own Warsaw Pact which was dissolved in the early 1990's thus the threat vanished.

NATO should be disbanded since they are becoming a threat to Russia and is destabilizing the region as it keeps expanding into more nations that surrounds Russia creating a growing atmosphere for war as they place more and more missiles that can now penetrate much further into Russia a nation that is markedly different from the old USSR which was an expansionist nation while Russia gave up a lot of small countries when they dropped the Warsaw Pact in return of NO NATO expansion a diplomatic promise the West broke over a decade ago.

NATO and the West was building up Ukraine as part of their drive to take down Russia which is a primary reason why Putin attacked Ukraine it was a self-defense reaction to the growing pressure they were facing as their security zone was being encroached by a hostile West.

A strong NATO is all that Europe wants. To get rid of NATO would splinter countries off and Russia would of course profit by it.

In the 1980's, the standard opinion was a war with the USSR would end after about 2 weeks because all the weapons on all sides would be used up. There was a popular book published in 1983 (The Third World War August 1985, by General Sir John Hackett) about the predicted outcome and went into a little detail about the attrition rate.

Its probably the same today, maybe worse. A major war will be fought with what's on hand, maybe with just what's in theater. Besides ships and planes being lost, cyber-attacks and maybe terrorist attacks may take out production and transportation capability. It will be a global war and will wreck the world.

I read this UK publication regularly here in the US. It's interesting to hear their perspective.
They have been sounding the alarm on UK defense cuts for at least a decade.

Why should they "Pay" when ya got Big "Daddy" The USA ..

Now before everyone "Snaps" starts screaming..

Even though our "Dollar" it's Toilet Paper basically....

The "Euro" also Toilet Paper..

What we do have & Euro "Doesn't" is Vast Global Military Power & Reach..

Yes that was "Pathetic" way we left "Afghanistan" sure..

Look at the entire European Union these are "Smaller Nations"..

Heck even Euro "Superpowers" like Britain, France, & Germany have a mere "Fraction" USA Military if ya combine all their forces "Together"

That and again I "acknowledge" debt and dollar "Toilet Paper" basically..

How we "Hold" that WORLDWIDE "Order" & Reserve Currency Status is that if anyone, anything, even tries 2 "Challenge" thy "Status Quo" we shall go BOMB the freaking crap outta em
