Here we are in the new world and why does today's tomato ketchup not taste like the less-than-jouous accompaniment to we had to chips and toad-in-the-hole back in the Seventies?

Living in Pittsburgh Heinz Ketchup still is the best and I still use it a lot.

It is good in recipes also like chipped ham BBQ and as an add in to baked beans.

Love ketchup with eggs, fries, burgers dogs, seafood, etc.

The trick to the old glass bottles was to rap the 57 to get it to flow.

In case anyone is interested. I have perfected this with a few other ingredients including bacon bits.

Coming from Pittsburgh, can you remember a time when Heinz Ketchup was made in Pittsburgh?

I can still smell the odor as I used to commute right past the production plant on Rt 28 when it was still operating in the 80's and 90's.

I got to tour the production facility in high school.

I work with a former food engineer who spent his career there.

Some more information on the production changes that moved.

The plant still stands today and is a mixture of housing and also used to contain an off brand soup production operation until 2019.

There's DUKE'S... then there's everything else (I can damn near eat it straight from the jar). :thumbsup20:

Seventies Heinz Ketchup was just a minor taste improvement on the period's culinary joys! And you could happily dab it through its MacDonalds' burgers.
