What the US news agency described as “the First Ukrainian Division” was in fact the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, also known as the 1st Galician Division.

While I'm not a fan of Trudeau and the mess he's making in Canada, I am a fan of history. The Waffen SS divisions were initially German Nazi purists and fantastics but those created after 1943, when Germany had been thrown on the defensive in the East and was facing attacks in the South and waiting for a landing in the West, were often comprised foreign nationals who fought for reasons other than supporting Nazis or Germany. The Ist Galacian was the social name of the unit but its official designation was the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS. Waffen SS was the military branch of the SS with SS units exterminating Jews being separate. The Waffen SS had both infantry and armored units and were military. The 14th Waffen Grenadiers were formed in 1943 when Germany was running out of the USSR.



One of my Russian instructors, Ernie Khabev, was from Azerbaijan. His village was located in a large valley with three villages. They were all Muslims, raised goats, and killed each other. Stalin sent a man to the valley to explain that the three villages were being formed into a collective. The man was killed. Another representative of Stalin arrived to explain the collective. He was killed. Stalin sent troops who killed all the women and children and the men were sent to the mines in Magnitogorsk. Mr. Khabev assisted the U.S. government in acts against the USSR during the Cold War due not to some love of America but his hatred of Stalin.


Mrs. Smolyenski was a Ukrainian. She survived the famine forced on the Ukraine by Stalin in which millions died of starvation. It's called the Holodor, I believe. Her father fought for Ukrainian independence and was sent to the mines in Magnitogorsk where he promptly died. She hated Stalin far more than she hated Hitler never the less she worked in a tank factory that was constantly moving by rail as the front lines moved. She was not motivated by love of Stalin, Russia, or the USSR.


Before and after WWII the USSR was America's enemy. I would not necessarily condemn someone who fought against Stalin and the USSR. I suspect the old man was a Ukrainian patriot fighting for freedom from Stalin and the USSR.


Millions of Russians were moved into the Ukraine after the Holodor and that is, in part, an issue in the fighting now.

Well as Ive explained before, Nazism is a form of dissident Marxism. Hitler admired Marxism and was proud of his in depth knowledge of it. However he disagreed with Marks Class war, and its internationalism.

He objected to its internationalism of the grounds it robbed people of their identity and turned humanity into a grey mass. This he said was a waste. People can be marxists and proud of the identity. His would be a National Socialism

He also objected to Marx's Class war. He said that destroyed all the smart people, Marxism had a use for bosses, their skills could be used to the benefit of the state. By 1930 you could see the effects of sacking the boss and putting a welder in charge of the factory, in the USSR. Nazism, he said would take the individual and help him become the best he can be, to the benefit of the state. The Bosses can run the factories, because thats what they are good at, but the state will tell them what to make and how much to sell their products for.

Lefties of course have been brainwashed to think nazism is 'right wing', because the idea that nazism is a better version of marxism than marxism is, is unacceptable to them. Their poor little brains couldn't take it.

Canada is on some thin ground. The west is cosying up to India, and India is well pissed with Canada for allowing a prominent Indian national to be assassinated on Canadian soil, then refusing to extradite the assassin. Ther ehas been diplomat ejections on both sides, and trade tariff suspensions.The other western governments are mute about it, they cannot support Canada because it more important not to upset India, whom they see as the best weapon they will have against China
