Leystonstone High Street in London is officially the most dangerous street to your health to eat in. There are NINETEEN eating establishments with ZERO stars Food hygiene rating.

But then is a paki ghetto, so they all have third world knowledge of Food Hygiene. You do know these people wipe there arses with their hand then wipe it on a rag?

Some of these places are basically serving dysentery kebabs.

Not sure what "dodgy" means in this instance, but to stay in business they must have a decent amount of clientele.

The order is around £30 with that I get free delivery.

In the early 90s my friends and I would use the restaurant every Friday nights after a full evening on the lash, the owner invited me to inspect his kitchen and meet his staff. As you'd expect the kitchen was immaculate and the chefs were very intelligent guys who were westernized.
This made a huge impression on me, that's why I've only ever used his establishment for authentic Indian meals.
His waiters and staff also know my youngest son and his band of buddies too. The owner knows me as Mr Neo as you'd expect :cool20:

Nope, we gots no Paki food around here. But we do have a whole lotta restaurants with a whole lotta violations. Can't blame any one ethnic group. Seems that some owners are just not as careful as others. Gotta whole bunch of repeat offenders in this group.

The hygiene, or lack thereof, of Pakistanis handling food, is the stuff of legends. There was a case a few years ago of pakis slaughtering and preparing 'halal' meat out in the open from terrace house back yard in Oldham, with literally blood running down the drains, by a man totally unlicensed and untrained. Ive seen numerous TV programs and documentaries of the dirty disgusting unclean kitchens in some paki and bangladeshi run restaurants, cockroach infested, rat and mouse infested and never been cleaned for years. The more dense the pakistani population, the less they care about food hygiene, so when you get to the asian ghettos of the old Northern mill towns, and the West Midlands, you throwing the dice on getting enteritis or worse. The same applies from the islamic republic boroughs of London such as Hackney and Peckham

And ill tell you something else. no "Indian" restaurant in the UK sell 'authentic' Indian food. They sell a fast cook pseudo mock up of indian food thats passed off as a such, but bears no resemblance to the stuff you eat if you go to india. Like the chinese did before them, they realised that the white man didnt know proper authentic food from shit.

For example, "Vindaloo" was a dish invented by Indians because during the Raj, the Memsahibs had to prove they could eat curry hotter than the natives, but they memsahibs missed out on the fact that its made from pork, which no self respecting indian would eat, so giving pork to the white man to eat was an insult that went over the white mans head, in the same way Chop Suey was utilised as a way to use use left over crap to serve to Americans GI's after WW2. Similarly, "Balti" was a quick cook pot of shit devised in Birmingham in the 1980's for the same reason. Other UK versions of some classic indian dishes , such a Tandoori, Tikka, Korma, and Madras bear very little resemblance tot he real thing.

If you want "authentic" Indian food, go to India, or learn to cook it. The Goddess of Real Authentic Indian Cuisine is Mahdur Jaffrey, who did as series of cooking programs and books back in the 80's and 90's that taught real, proper Indian food. I learned a lot watching her cook. Some of her dishes that you can find being cooked in india became my favorites such as Chettinard Peppered Chicken, Punjabi Chicken in Chillis, Lamb in Peanut Sauce, Mughlai Chicken in Cream, Chicken with Spinach, Boatmans Curry and Goan prawn Curry. I also learned how to make Naans, Parathas and Onion Bhagees from her.

This doesnt mean the stuff they sell in UK Indian restaurants isnt edible, it is, but dont kid yourself its authentic Indian cooking, its not, its fast cooked crap designed to fool the memsahib. Once and only once have I found an authentic Indian dish in a Uk Indian restaurant, i was astounded once to find a new Indian restaurant in Lincoln selling Chettinard Peppered Chicken, and it was pretty much identicle to how i learned to cook it from Madhur Jaffreys recipe.

I've heard you blokes talk about the unsavory food you're now getting before. It kinda reminds me, of taking trips with friends to the east end of London to partake in the finest wines and some of the best meat, game, and fish dishes anywhere, including the continent! But that was in the era of London's great Smog & Teddy Boys.
In the mean time, eat your heart out. Cheers! :yo2:

Nah, a pakistani in Glasgow claims to have invented it, but the method cooking can be traced back to Babylon in 3500 BCE, It was a favorite method of cooking in india during the reign of the Mughlai emperors in the 15th century. But no one had heard of it in the Uk in the 1970's, so the guy falsely claimed he invented it.

The only peppers they used in those days were the white and black peppers, it wasn't until the Portuguese were allowed to trade at the port of Goa that India experienced the spices and red hot peppers from the new world.
