I'd like to remind everyone - the newer folks especially, that civility is a big part of this forum and THE reason why the level of freedom enjoyed by all, works.

Some of you have come here recently from a forum combat zone. I say to you now, and plainly, that there's no one on this site you cannot tolerate. Please relax; you're among friends. Be civil, enjoy the chat and debate, and remember: "mild insults and snark are okay", but not personal attacks, not nasty snide remarks, and please don't flamebait. You're going to be debate opponents, not enemies.

Play nice, be civil, and remember: we do so appreciate that you choose to spend time here.

Thank you

Trinnity

Yes!

I came from a rather unhealthy political forum and I love this place! I give money when I can to keep this and I believe this is the best political website I could ask for.

I do know I have some cultural issues and differences with Americans but these do not stop me from being a very proud new American.

I'm learning so very much about politics and government, and issues and conspiracies that I become sometimes overwhelmed with so much information.

But that is much better than the opposite, yes?

i have watched many sites like this devolve into nothing more than dishonest, partisan hackery that eventually kills the site and accomplishes nothing but widening the divide between all people. it also leads to high blood pressure, stroke and death.

its a disease that can be controlled by strick adherence to the rules, and strick moderation..

this is our "backyard" and we shouldnt shit in it...

This is not a democracy. It is pure tyrannical control, & it is all her call. But we like it like that.. :laughing7:

j/k...

And seriously, this is a microcosm of human governance. THIS is what i want from my govt.. power used for the protection of rights. It is not anarchy, nor totalitarian, nanny state controls. It is preserving our freedoms, with consideration to the collective. If we could have a benevolent dictator, this could be the result. But in america, we don't trust human power, so have balanced it in a system of citizen representatives & separate powers. It has become corrupted, but this is the ideal.

But you see, trinnity has to walk the fine line of keeping order & allowing freedom. She cannot rule whimsically, as the membership would just leave. But her fair & even application of her rules & standards make this an attractive place to debate ideas.

I'd just like to chime in with a 'thanks!' to trin, jonesy, & ocean for their goals, & the lighthouse of forum freedom they provide. :headbang:

Yes Trinnity. Hahaha, guilty of snarkiness from time to time. It usually happens when little issues of semantics change, and become more important then the topic or content. I'll try to remember that no one is perfect...well almost no one.

Now can we have our cookies and milk please? :f_sorry:

Bravo!

But um....

We can still call Obama a traitor, can't we?

We don't have to be civil to public figures, do we? (Including Hillary and her Bimbos of State like Victoria Nuland - who by the way was just promoted for lying to the American People)?

Susan Rice? We can still call her a half-baked lying sellout whose qualifications in national security are right up there with those of Groucho Marx?

Just wanted to clarify...

But that is a good thing. All the calories have leaked out!

One should always break a cookie in two and let the calories drain out.

Don't get them on you tho, they stain.

No wait... there's a reason I asked that question! So like, if Susan Rice decides to show up on this forum someday (y'know, her real live true self), then I intend to call her a lyin' sack o' shit right to her face. I won't mince words either. There might even be a few expletives involved. (Gasp). Do I actually have to be polite to her just 'cause she's a member, or how does this work exactly? :geez::cool20:

In my humble and honest opinion, his country of origin debatable, but one he took that office, then gave aid and comfort, let alone a country, guns and training, to Al Qaeda, he became a traitor. Regardless of anything, and as unfortunate as it is, he his the CNC.

I see being polite to someone that is intentionally and constantly lying to me to be intentionally stupid.

Liberals need to lie, I don't need to be stupid.

Understated put-downs always tickle my funnybone.

I don't think I will ever forget this:

I was in a room one time, starting an IV on a man. He looked at me and said "I'll bet you were really pretty in your day".

JustPassinThru

Ya should have jammed the needle through his arm.

I don't even CARE if it's true or not....you don't make jokes with someone with an IV needle, or a straight razor, or who's holding a weapon!

Gawd...when I lived in Ohio, my regular barber was an Irish immigrant. "The Irish Barber" his sign said; and he and maps of the Auld Sod all over his shop. Good barber...and one day when he was doing the straight-razor thing with my neck, I made the innocent mistake of suggesting he was British.

Sean was, like I said, personable and smart. He got in front of me, arms folded...said, "Now you been a customer here a long time, Mr Thru...but dontcha EVAH put in in bed with that bunch. And NEVAH when I've got me razor out...if ya value yor head..."

Okay, Sean. Got it.

Civility is an important part of whether I stay around a forum or not. A forum where there is constant personal attacks and flame wars isn't worth the hassle. Haven't seen that here so far!
