Having seen them fly many times, I can honestly say they are DEMONIC! They make eerie sounds, and fly about like no other jet, severe climbs and dives, violent turns, etc. And let's not forget the noise that 30mm Gau 8/A Avenger nose gun makes.

There's nothing in the ground attack role the US Ari Force is looking at that can really replace the A-10. We need to start up the lines again to start producing brand new ones.

    Taxcutter says:
There is no restarting the line. All the tooling has been destroyed. DoD SOP.

I do agree that neither the F-35, nor the F-16, nor the F/A-18 is a real replacement.

    Truly it need two replacements.
    1. A close air support aircraft for use in relatively benign environments like the Sandbox where the scumbags have no real air defenses.
    2. A close air support aircraft for use in a near-peer war where the bad guys might just have effective air defenses.

The Air Force is experimenting with option 1. Cheap and dirty prop-driven planes for attacking helpless targets.

They do need to get after a real replacement for fighting Russians or Chinese. Please put some decent engines on it.

Smell the coffee. The day is coming where the last A-10 gets grounded due to metal fatigue.
