    Question Remember The Woodies???

The Woodies You May Never See Again.

Those were the days; when if you had an accident, you needed a good carpenter more than a mechanic.

Those were the days of motor vehicles, called automobiles, not cars! Aren't they beautiful?

    1948 Chevrolet

    Ford

    Chrysler

    1948 Packard

    Ford

    1942 Chrysler Town and Country

    Plymouth

    Buick

Very British Challenge: Can anyone identify this Woodie?

    Chrysler

    British -- Austin A 70 Countryman

The Brits called them, "Shooting Breaks."

    Pontiac

    Craftsmanship not often seen today!

    Pontiac

    Mercury

    Assorted Woodies

    1946 Oldsmobile Special 66

    1940 Ford

Back in the days when cars had style, and even with so many makes and models, all changing every year, they made a profit. And,not only that, you could sit on the porch and name the cars as they drove by. Unlike today, when they all look the same.
This was when a car was called an automobile ! !

I'm thinking that if someone wanted to give me a couple of those I'd take them. I wouldn't even be picky.

Beautiful photos though thanks for posting those.

You mentioned in the original post about being able to name all the cars back then. I used to be able to know all the cars of the fifties and sixties when I saw them even the early 70s but once General Motors started coming out with the D bodies and K cars and all that crap that's when I let cars go

    Well, of course!

I had one about a decade ago....oh, wait, you were talking about cars or something.......

I almost bought a Dodge Convertible Woodie once. It was listed at $450.00. This was in 1963. The car was about 10 years old. I bought a motorcycle instead. I still have the bruises on my ass for kicking myself for not getting that car!

@S-N-A-F-U did you see all the Mexican flags hanging off the front bumper of the first pic, the 48 Chev?
